When my dad was a successful salesman ("back in the day"!) he ran a Jensen CV-8 for a while. That's a pretty damned cool car, especially in its heyday.

Nowadays he has the rather more sedate, but equally brilliant in its own way, Honda Jazz. I acually think it's a rather cool car, in of itself.

My Dad went through loads of cars between 1955 and 1975. He worked for Ford in Brentwood for couple of years, mid 70s. They seemed to provide him and other management types with souped up versions of various Capri 3100s etc. I can remember going in one and it seemed pretty damn quick for back then.

From memory he had a Triumph Herald, an Amphicar, Hillman Imp, Wolsey Hornet, various Capri's, Ford Corsair, couple of Mercs, Jags, Austin Healey 3000 which he used to call an Aston Martin until he bought a DB6, and so on. Hes now retired and drives a Merc ML270 which is not doing too well in the reliability stakes.

Below is a pic we took when he was stationed in Indonesia in 1973. It shows how they service cars out there - No kidding !

I think thats a Hindustan Ambassador which itself is based on an Austin A50 Cambridge (I think).

When you think of our dad's old company cars on here..........Cortinas, MG Montegos, Granadas etc, they may be all cool in a retro sort of way, but it does make me think that today's rep in their Focus/Mondeo/Passat has probably never had it so good in terns of handling, performance, comfort and value. But will those family cars of today ever be cool........? Maybe a car has to be flawed to be truly cool.

My Late Dads Alpine white 70 Hemi Challenger. He owned it from September 72, to early 73. What a car!
And amazingly, it has survived!
