I looked at the front pic and I didnt like! The rake on the roof appeared to be too steap, but the profile photo works very well!

Smooth out the design a little, drop a uprated, bored over LS7 in there and you've got a winner

Oh and dont base it on any of the regular platforms like the new challenge/300C, if its to whip everything like the original, it needs to be developed with a bespoke chassis that is capable of taking the power and delivering the goods around the twisties

Shelby Cobra concept:

Am I missing something?
Does that work now?
Yes, first one looks cool, second one looks like Metal Mickey.

Cheers,

yes I might just give them a ring

I wonder what underpinnings it will have? Will the chassis be built from scratch? If so, I wonder what it will handle like.

I am with you on that one. Certainly looks good. I wonder how affordable it'll be if they are only making it in such small numbers!

Unfortunately it looks like just another pipe dream.

Like so many of this type of car there will be no point buying something based around the Corvette Z06 engine but which isn't as thoroughly engineered as the Corvette yet costs a whole lot more money!

What's more, with that power to weight ratio traction will be ....... highly questionable!

There was a chap around here not long ago, an American I think, who was making a Cobra type car, and he put up some fantastic computer renderings of what it's going to look like. Does anyone have a link for his thread please? I can't remember what his car was called or what his name was, but I'm sure I didn't just dream it...

Gracias.

The comment earlier about being unsure of Maltese manufacture, please remember that all new AC cars are manufactured on this island. The current model being the Mk 5.
I think if it all comes together and there is a link between the design house and AC it can only be good thing. Lets see what happens.

I've recently built a darton 427 with callies crank and billet titanium rods etc /ls7 top end that'sgoing into a very smoothed out Dax cobra with mini headlights, custom full dam/chin spoiler and a load of other modern ideas. It's booked for magazines in the spring.

Make a retro-modern LS7 67 Stingray and I'll be interested. Those Cobra bastardizations fall from the trees, and I'm tired.

Build a stingray that can negotiate a corner and you'd be onto a winner. smile

Shelby Cobra concept:

I recently saw a program on t'telly (Rides, I think), which followed the design and creation of this car.
Now, I love Cobras in whatever form they come in - original or kit - and was really looking forward to seeing what they came up with, especially as they had Carroll Shelby himself on the project..
It started off looking good, a massive, beautifully engineered aluminium chassis and a Rousch (sp?) motor, and I was thinking 'This is going to be fantastic'.....

....but was dreadfully disappointed at the final result... To my eyes it has more to do with the Renault Spyder/Audi TT than any Cobra. OK, there are a few hints of Cobra (the low doors/large haunches thing), but Ford have really missed a trick here, esp. when other firms are thinking about building similar concepts. The Maltese car looks sooooooo much better...

My eyes, my eyes errrghh.

Why start with a pretty car if you are going to do that to it?
looks like a boil on its nose.
I think the "boil" is because it's a 12.9 litre engine IIRC

Pic 1: This is what an awesome shelby cobra inspired beautiful car would look like if we were to make a car look so good it's what God would drive given the choice.

Pic 2: Bought an Audi TT? want a shit bodykit on it? look, it's got stripes!

Here's one more opinion that this is the only modern interpretation of a Cobra that looks both good and modern. I always thought that Shelby's looked awful.
