Terrible, shocking news. And, I feel we're gonna be stuffed without him.

His was the ONLY voice of honesty and common sense against a tidal wave of lies, nonsense, and, well, corruption really.

It's a tragedy I agree.
You don't know what you've got until you haven't got it.

A very sad day indeed.

However we need to give all our support to his partner Claire if she is to carry on his work.
I am surprised and very pleased that Claire has
volunteered at this very difficult time to carry
the project forward.

Would one of our more HTML-savvy readers like
to volunteer to help tidy up the safespeed website ?
I thought recently in a thread on PH that Paul commissioned a chap from here to make website changes.

Condolences to Paul's family.

Paul's enthusiasm, common sense and integrity will be sadly missed. I wish Claire and whoever assists her in the future every success in continuing Paul's work.

RIP to a great man who wanted to stand up for common sense. I hope his widow knows she has the support of most motorists to continue a good cause.

I suddenly feel the need to go and burn a speed camera as a mark of respect and in recognition of a great man.

Dreadful news. Paul worked tirelessly and often with little support from the community he represented the best interests of.

My condolensces to his family.

I was stunned when I heard this. Road safety has lost one of its most senible campaigners. A real loss.

RIP Paul. It's a real shame. I knew he'd been unwell, but I didn't expect that.

A great loss to the motoring community and road safety. Paul's was the one voice of sanity in the sea of idiocy that is road policy in this country.

I hope someone can fill his shoes, but they'll need pretty big feet.

Sad news.Maybe if ALL PH drivers had supported his efforts with the biggest problem faced by him costs £££££££, then the stress may not have caused this end to a dedicated person. We ALL admired his comments & actions in answer to the crap from so called braindead experts, but admiration does not pay the bills.

My cheque for £100 will be posted in the morning, NO!!!!! it doesnt make me feel better, I know I could have perhaps supported a real fighter and didnt make the time for him, that he made time for Me.

RIP Paul, this is sad news for our country. I hope that someone has the ability and intelligence that Paul had to keep fighting the cause his way.

Condolences to his family.

This is very sad. The road safety debate will be all the poorer for the loss of one so outspoken on the subject and so passionately opposed to the slide in road safety standards.

Whilst I've disagreed with Paul, vociferously, on many points and his techniques, I've always thought and said that he was the side of the angels in this debate.

May he rest now with them.

OMG no! Just seen the news, what a shock. This is dreadful on so many levels frown Thoughts are with family and friends.

Very few causes in my 40+ years on this planet have persuaded me to get my wallet out. Paul Smith's stand for common sense road safety policy tempted a life SafeSpeed membership out of me, and that is no small feat I can tell you. I wish his successor(s) the success they so richly deserve.

RIP Paul.
