Father Christmas has come early
Discussion
Has been one of the best weekends of 2007 - picked the car up on Saturday and had a few (chilly) hours blasting down the M1 back to London:
Interior manufactured to a very high standard - note carbon-fibre seats!
350bhp 3.5ltr Twin Turbo V8
Full Carbon Fibre body:
Initial driving impressions are that it is an extremely quick car - its easy to spin the wheels in 1st to 3rd gears even with part throttle - have been very carefull driving it in these wintery conditions, but on a dry road its easy to understand how it *could* hit 0-60 sub-4 seconds and a sub 9 seconds to 100mph. The cabin is also surprisingly warm with heaters on full blast - the side windows (removable) make a big difference.
I'm going to start researching the car and compiling all the available information on it - I know that it is only one of two built (the other is LHD and in the states - need to confirm this as I've never seen photo's of the other car) and that it was the AC Cars Factory Press car and hence featured in several publications at the time (2000 - Esquire, with Damon Hill driving it and EV0 with Harry Metcalfe at the wheel). It has also been driven and featured in a Jeremy Clarkson DVD/Video and driven by Mark Blundell on a press day:
It was also used as the Pace Car at the first NASCAR Race in the UK - going to try and find out details on this. Leaving the factory (note no stone chip protectors on the rear wings) it also had a front splitter
Not quite sure if I like it - opinions?
At the moment, just over the moon I've bagged the car

I think the EVO quote was "buying a pint and then putting custard on the top" or something or other - refering to the flat plane turbo'd V8 sound tied to Cobra image - but they're a bunch of gob-shtes - car preferences are totally subjective.....for me its a modern update of the iconic AC Cobra - its very well put together, sounds great and goes like the clappers
Right, I knew it was something uncomplimentary but couldn't remember exactly what and couldn't be bothered to go through all my back issues. Obviously I haven't been in a Cobra or a Lotus V8 powered car for that matter so can't comment until I have the opportunity. Looks good in red BTW.Edited by duggan on Saturday 22 December 19:10
Hello Sierra1off,
The car will be at Wings and Wheels at Dunsfold Park on 24th Aug (http://www.wingsandwheels.net/home.asp?fdv=1 and also the ACOC site http://www.racecar.co.uk/acoc/forum/topic.asp?TOPI... - looks like its going to be a good day + the chance to see if I can match the claimed 0-100mph in 9 secs on the runway
Will be on the ACOC stand - give me a nudge on the day
