Free 48 hour test drive in a Laguna - delivered to your door
Discussion
I remember a 48 hour "test drive" when I needed to move some stuff that wouldn't fit in my car, tried to borrow err test drive a small van, which wasn't avaliable that weekend so was offered a Renault 5.Picked it up on Fri afternoon, with something like 10 miles on the clock!£10 for me & the ex for insurance, returned on Monday morning (keys thrown on the reception desk quick check of the bodywork) 500 miles later
having spent most of that time on the motorway with the pedal on the right pushed to the floor
Only 1 'phone call as a follow up,said I'd bought something else
No more questions asked.

All around the country new Lagunas are now being thrashed to within an inch of their lives for 48 hours at a time.
So I'm expecting PHers to have full encyclopedic knowledge of the ideal launch revs, ideal shift revs, max cornering G's, offroad performance, what it takes to lock up all 4 brakes, how fast you can go in 1st gear and how fast you can go over speedbumps in the new Laguna? It's been said that the fastest car in the world is a rental!

So i assume most people here are just wasting the dealers time with no intention in a million years of ever buying one?
TBH, if they don't give me one of the low-powered diesels I might consider one. I want something more reliable and economical as a daily drive and for long journeys.Plus, I don't think anyone's actually wasting the dealers' time, just Renault's money.
A dealer is not involved, the car comes straight from Avis who get paid by Renault. You are not ripping anyone off by taking this offer. When Avis called me for my credit card details (in case the car was short of fuel) they also asked for my driving licence number. There was NO mention of points, I would think that the rental was the same for any Avis contract. In the box for charges it said N/A.
Oh and if you get it sideways enough the dash display goes all orange and comes up with a skiddy car warning symbol, as I discovered over a humpback bridge with all 4 wheels in the air. It went back safe and sound. Just remember that there is a large excess, £600 I think.
I got the diesel, I think its all Avis have.

Do they check the depth of the tread in the tyres?Oh and if you get it sideways enough the dash display goes all orange and comes up with a skiddy car warning symbol, as I discovered over a humpback bridge with all 4 wheels in the air. Considering that Renault have the worst customer service in history, and that their 'management' are not customer-facing (tired of being told how crap they are, I assume!), and that it's easier to get Renault France to speak to you (twice in my case with the key-fob issue) than anyone local....I say fair game.....they have certainly ripped us off for long enough! £273.00 for a key on a known manufacturer fault that was never put down as a recall.
