RE: World Record At PH Show
Discussion
I saw this at the 12.30 Sunday show when he broke the record again, but to be honest it looked completely underwhelming. Maybe if he'd done it in between some expensive cars it might have been different. I remember years ago seeing Russ Swift doing all this and more in an MG Montego around a car park full of cars very close together, and now that was exciting.
I'm going to sound like a real meathead here, but the Lambo donuts he did afterwards were more like it!
Precision driving is so much more exciting when there is the chance of crunching some expensive metal!
I like the guy having seen some of his stuff before, but this stunt just lacked danger. Sorreee.

What isn't mentioned is how many times he hit the barriers while trying- something that Russ doesn't do.
I'm guessing its a lot easier to set a record when the barriers are polystyrene blocks rather than something much harder and more expensive.
Sorry if this sounds like sour grapes- at the end of the day Terry has skill and he's done what he's done- but I'm really not sure this is like for like.

Russ Swift is KING in this procedure - always will be.
Modern cars have 'everything' going for them.
To do what Russ did in a ruddy great barge saloon Montego, in a REAL car park - the vids still out there somewhere - means he's unbeatable.
There is also a vid out there of Russ 'driving' a Montego through some country lanes (what was it the critics of the Monty said, awful torque steer, etc) - you need to find this video (it's on the web somewhere) and watch the ridiculous speed and control Russ achieves - better than watching rallying!
endline.
Twingo must be the most naff name in the world for a car.

One person did this and he happened to be male. Doesn't mean you can all do it. Remember that.

The Ladies record still remains untouched though, at 4.8 meters.

Yes obviously womens' presence in motorsport is virtually non-existant, and it's unfortunate that a lot of doors remain closed to those women that may actually have some talent.
But my point was that you don't need to ridicule us all with obvious stereotype jokes like that. I think it was a justified slap.

It's okay, I didn't really mean what I said. I'm not really a woman-hater - just said it as a 'wind up', but you responded admirably. Is this post missing a link? I'm going to sound like a real meathead here, but the Lambo donuts he did afterwards were more like it!
