What would you feel more comfortable with, a Porsche driver that fast lane doing 140mph, or 4 yobs walking towards you armed with knives.

The police are not just out of step with public opinion, many feel that by making speed the only focus, they are not acting in the public interest.
It's seems the message is

'We're after the ones that might possibly cause harm, rather than the ones who are really likely to'

only one question, why is it legal and safe to drive at over 100mph here in germany but in england EVERYONE is deemed not capable of safely driving at those speeds. in 10 years no one i know has crashed at high speed, died, or otherwise had problems (AFAIK)
Mainly becasus our government doesn't trust us with our own lives. Their levels of control are actually up to genuinely frightening levels.

Add into this, the fact that the motorist is an easy target. It is simply a 'measurable' crime. There is no skill involved in cactching someone speeding, so it means easy results.

Doing 100mph in a 1.2 corsa isnt big, clever or safe regardless of driver experience or capabilities.
Why's that, then..? Do they have inadequate brakes, or what..?

Ps...your brackets bugger up the quote formatting

They'd be better employed as diet consultants: at least 70,000 people a year die for reasons attributable to poor diet / alcohol abuse.

If the police view these tapes to be reliable evidence, then surely if you change your speedo and set it say 15mph slower than it actually is and film yourself getting caught speeding do you think they will use the exvidence?

I suppose that it shows that it is safe to drive at those speeds though!
As if they can..
Once drove the tuscan @200mph for miles.... The speedo had some fault and when i started the car it jumped so the starting point was 150mph... had to get a static pick of it tho... biggrinbiggrin

I wonder if the police would spend as much time and effort studying CCTV of burglaries/robberies to catch those offenders......

We've had ten robberies round here in the last few months - police just never get them, no resources they say!

Much easier to target DVLA registered road users as they are easy bate!

Time the police got their head out of their @rse!
