New magazine? Formed by Harris / Bovington / Meaden
Discussion
..and another thing though... personally i am quite excited by the tesla. plus it's a 'new dawn'..more like 'the olden days'. perhaps we'll get some new innovations etc.
whilst i hate the hypocrisy, foolishness and socialism of the regime... i quite like the fact that it'll maybe push innovation... double plus the uberfloats will rev and sound kind of cool unlike a diseasel...

I guess it will give some really cool possibilities too; the limitation of a magazine is that they can only describe engine note.
Surely, on an electronic device you can read a page and then insert your headphones and push a button to actually listen to them starting the car, rather than just their description (as an example).

most importantly it will give them the option of loads of pictures so the (really really irritating) habit of mentioning a design feature and then not showing it may finally cease..Surely, on an electronic device you can read a page and then insert your headphones and push a button to actually listen to them starting the car, rather than just their description (as an example).

So true! I've lost count the number of times they've said something about a part of the car; the rear, the front, the headlights, the engine bay, the wheels etc. etc. and then fail to show a single photograph of it or, perhaps, the only wheel shots they are spinning! Great shots, but very often not as informative as you'd like. A minor criticism though.TonyHetherington said:

True, but to me there is a danger in that. One of the beauties of reading good writing, is the ability of the writer to describe the experience, to put in your head the emotion and to really make the reader feel part of the piece.Surely, on an electronic device you can read a page and then insert your headphones and push a button to actually listen to them starting the car, rather than just their description (as an example).
From the 'journalism' I read on a lot of websites, they might as well be press releases from manufacturers, as they read like spec sheets rather than well written prose.
There's definately a place for technology in content delivery, but the first concern has to be that content. Without it you're delivering something nobody will want to pay for.

A minor criticism though.I wish Chris, Jethro, Dickie et al all the best and believe that if anybody can make the webzine format work it'll be them. Perhaps that will spawn a carry over effect that will boost the popularity of other fledgling webzines. What shouldn't be underestimated is the experience and contacts that these guys bring to bear. The lowered barriers to entry will tempt some into thinking this represents a more viable business model for a startup than a print mag but, if anything, there are even more challenging obstacles to overcome. I'm intrigued by nervous' venture, it's probably something I'd be interested in reading but do double and triple check all of your assumptions regarding ad revenues, delivery costs etc. This is a tough gig.

Any [ahem] websites you'd care to mention or should we just look at the url at the top of the page?thekirbyfake said:

Wow!Particularly like the Pikes Peak bit. Reading about it is one thing but seeing and hearing that thing move is amazing

The message I get is that it's all about some nifty driving & controlled power slides. As an aside, PC Plod may not like some of those antics on public roads.

But that's not what its all about, you'll see plenty of insightful reviews that don't involve sliding cars, but more importantly provide an honest and non-elitist view on what we enjoy as drivers.
