The message I get is that it's all about some nifty driving & controlled power slides. As an aside, PC Plod may not like some of those antics on public roads.
But that's not what its all about, you'll see plenty of insightful reviews that don't involve sliding cars, but more importantly provide an honest and non-elitist view on what we enjoy as drivers.
When you're photographing for a magazine, you could very easily argue that the 'hooligan' shots are staged, and done at extremely low speeds.
Given that these are videos, you can clearly see that they are driving extremely quickly and, in the current political climate, 'dangerously'.
If the rozzers were to come across this footage, it wouldn't be very difficult to track down the people driving and 'make and example of them'. I hope that doesn't happen, but I give it six months - this could well be the first 'high profile' internet car magazine.

Hummm. Maybe it's just me (bike journo, ex-ITN producer)...but that barker piece - it's not exactly breaking new ground is it? Dull music, Bruntingthorpe...I did wonder how many times you could drive a car fast around a corner before it became a bit samey and I think I just found out. I do hope the real thing's an improvement.
Then again, I'm new so what do I kno (sic)?

Mr. drivers republic,
Please o please do not do as autocar do, the hottest comparison
twin test of the year....and the result...

While "sutters" is quite the driver he simply cannot convey
what cars do on the road. I suppose some drivers are so good
they need not worry how a car handles- so long as its decent,
as they can coax it round anyway. Maybe why race-car drivers
don't make such good scribblers.
ps viv is a super class bloke, the most kind journo i ever met,
(& obviously thats been quite number) even if I don't like evo anymore.

Brilliant. David's 97 year old mum learns to surf the net.
I think your opinion on the whole DR thing is clear so far Mr Viv. However, would be curious to know if you decided on the content of this month's column, or it came from the magazine. I don't really care either way but I do wonder whether you're feeling like it was a bit of an own goal.
Just seen the DR video and can't help but be excited. I know the old arguments for trad print versus new media but there's room in my life for both. For now anyway...

I'm sure I will just carry on reading Evo, Car and Autocar like I have been doing for god knows how long, and the addition of DR to the mix can only be a good thing.
I tried emailing the address at the top right of the page but got an undeliverable message. What am I doing wrong?
youve accidently clicked the 'open-mind' feature. apparently the default setting on here wont allow you to like both types of magazine.I tried emailing the address at the top right of the page but got an undeliverable message. What am I doing wrong?
de-select one of your magazines, or click 'get-really-worked-up-about-tailgating-or-something' and PH will lower your threat-assessment score.

It amazes me how the traditional press view online mags as a threat. Nobody's saying you can only read one or t'other.
Of course if they're worried about punters one day realising they can get a decent fix of automotive journalism online for free v £4 for every paper mag, maybe they are right to be worried...
I personally welcome DR and The Road as they are helping to raise awareness of decent online mags.
(auto-journals.com is undergoing its own complete revamp and will be fully functional later this summer.)
