Personally I'm not so sure about this webzine format but I'll give it a go if it's free. Just found this thread and I completely missed all the goings on. I've read EVO since issue one, subscribing for years, but even though I've been thinking about losing the subscription recently, I can't bring myself to do it. I spend a fortune on car magazines, and I do most of my reading in the little room. Start a good article, and DVT can become a real risk! eek

If I want to watch cars, there is Top Gear, or Fifth Gear a poor second (which unfortunately the youtube DR promo video reminded me of), or there is always something on Dave or Sky. I don't want to wait around for a small sized, low quality, average production value video to buffer, and then keep stuttering to a halt.

I find webzines frustrating as there is always a delay loading something, or adverts shoved in your face.
I tried Monkey magazine (a Nuts/FHM style freeby) but after a couple of months I got fed up of it dragging my PC to a halt and the slow speed of the updates.

If I want to read other people's thought, or share my opinions there is PH. I think a magazine website should either compliment the paper version, or be a website, not a pretend magazine.

I hope it works out and I will give it a try, just like I'm trying Performance Car Magazine at the mo.

Good Luck.
smile

Checked the site,,,launch day and still "coming soon"......I hope they are not following the Evo subscription delivery model too closely.
I am/was looking forward to reading drivers-republic, this seems to be dragging on a little now, enough of the tease, lets get on with it! smile

Not too sure - took ages to load each page, even on the fast internet connection at work, and the writing was hard to read. Then the third page it crashed and I just got a blank screen. I've never had a magazine do that on me..... confused

Just the same for me - even in a different browser which doesn't have the original page cached.

Guys,

Looks like Drivers Republic is open for Business.

Just had a ten minute look through the site and I am quite impressed, particularly like the way the articles open and the fact you can turn the pages just like a print magazine.

Like the video clips embedded in the articles as well.

Can't wait to see the first full issue.

Well done Steve and team.

Regards

Tim
