The owner of the car is mighty busy so has someone else posting a blog in a closed forum, which I'm copying (with permission) to here smile The car is in Norway.

Stiansen said:
The project has just started.

The car will be built for timeattack, and will be used in a racing class called Roadsport and other trackdays etc. The target is high power and low weight. It will have a complete 1350-hp enginge with AEM ecu and all supporting mods, and the whole body will be in carbon-fibre. Not sure how it will look yet, but probably the rmm-lip and wing and a nice paint-job.
Specs on the engine:

Carillo Rods
CP Pistons
HKS 272`s
Greddy Camgears and belt
Custom intake
Boostlogic T6 turbokit with GT4780 turbo
5" Downpipe
Titanium exhaust
Titan Motorsports fuel-system with 1200cc`s
3x Walbro 255 fuel pumps

It dynoed 912 rwhp last year at 2,2 bar and 6500 rpm and 98 octane.

Transmission is the V160 Getrag.
Differential: Cusco 2-way

This is how the car looked like before:

First update:

The car is now stripped totally, and the car is going to Ourom Racing to take out the engine, and then it will be sent to High Performance Composites for the carbon-job.

Post exceeds preview limits so fingers crossed the pics work...

Due to norwegian laws to have the car registered with this setup we have to convert it from RHD to LHD. This will be done as soon as possible, and if any of you have a EURO-spec dashboard for sale, PM me smile

New update

We have now got a deal on a LHD chassis for the conversion. We`re going to remove the firewall on the Supra, and replace it with this LHD firewall and dashboard.

The car will be sand-blasted on the underside, inside and in the engine bay, to get it 110% clean.

Here`s some pics of the chassis.

The engine is out of the car, the same with the transmission. It`s now at HPComposites were they`re going to start with the roof and rear fenders next week The Top Secret hood is the hood we`re going to use.

Don't get the point of replacing the panels with carbon - there will be minimal weight saving (if any - 2mm carbon panels may actually add weight over thin steel sheet), and it'll be a nightmare in a crash - possibly even dangerous. If say it rolled, rather than deform the carbon would shatter. The shards would do some serious damage. If the chassis was an optimised Carbon monocoque, with the laminate planned where the strength was need it would be great, but simply hanging carbon panels off a steel frame is just a pointless waste of money.

Is it just me that thinks this is actually quite silly?? Even on slicks its not going to be particularily tractable? Doesnt look like it was running any trick tyres before, so it must be slower than stock as surely the power just spins away?

Nope. The choice of turbo & output was questioned by everyone else too. The silver JDM car is just a donor chassis, the red German car is going to be donating it's LHD parts and a black JDM car is donating it's engine and gearbox before being sold as a rolling chassis.

The carbon car runs rediculously wide wheels and tyres -11x18 with 315/30R18 Rear
9,5x18 with 265/35R18 Front

The roof and a lot of other parts have been made now. The roof is only a test just to see how it looks so far with that mold. A new one with 110% finish will be made soon. This is just a teasersmile

On the rear fender`s it was some dents and scratches, and they had to go. They were fixed up to we were 110% happy with the results.

When the rear fenders were back in their original shape they started to make the mold for the right rear fender. New pics of the fenders will be here soon.

The A-pillar`s are also finished, in the first picture you can see the molding, the other is when they`re hardening. Theese one will be those on the car.

Hope you like it.
Stiansen said:

The roof and A-pillars are now mounted, and the rear fenders will be next smile

Here they cut off the roof and the pillar smile

And now it`s time to mountsmile

The molds being made in this pictures, they are made of solid fiberglass.

They have to be perfectly fitted to the shape of the Supra, here they`re fitting the alu-pipes to do that.

Afterwards the pipes are welded togethersmile

The last step with the production of the mold is to get it of the car, in one piece of coursesmile

A couple more pics of the finished roof, this is not the test I`ve posted pics of before, but the one that will be on the car:

Now it`s time to mount the roof and the A-pillars. It`s mounted with strong glue and high pressure.

The parts that have been cut of the car, mostly rear fender partssmile

The roof and A-pillars are now finished. Only thing that remains is some clearcoat and finishing work for the good look.

So let me get this straight. 1350 hp and they put that much effort into saving 6.8kg? It'll use the same weight in fuel in a minute. Why bother?

The biggest savings will be from the doors & tailgate, they are *really* heavy. This car should be 300kg lighter than mine. He's already got people PMing him for the full kit so it's probably paid for itself already.
