Did anyone see the XKR episode where Ed used that machine to clean the internals of the engine?

Wondered if my cars could do with it now!?
Does anyone know what that machine or process is called?

that's it.

I'm very sceptical about the stuff, I suspect that particular episode had some very strong product placement.

Edd's promoting the system now.

Some really, really bad logo photoshopping going on at their website too

Can't see why it wouldn't work to be honest, depends how much they charge for it, got to be more thorough than a bottle of redex or whatever. Just not sure if it would actually be worth it.

I honestly just think this show is completely fake. I don't think the buyers are real buyers, and are probably just employees of the company that makes the program. Also, I think they fabricate the financial aspects and how they come to certain figures. I also don't think Edd China does all the work he claims to, clearly a fraud! They may not even sell the cars as they claim, I'm not sure.

All in all, the show just screams FAKE!

I have not read the entire topic so don't shoot me - but isn't it the production crew who go out and buy the car, leaving Mike and Ed to "sort it out" while being filmed? Which is why they can sometimes (or often?) end up with right dogs?
Have you actually watched Wheeler Dealers?

The show starts off with Mike looking through the classified magazines, eBay, PH etc, selecting a few cars then going off to see a few.

It then shows him inspecting it, test driving it, haggling over the price etc, so I don't think it is staged and done by the crew.

Edd (and Paul) is the mechanic who then fixes it up.

Isn't there a PHer who brought a car off WD? I can't remember his name.

Here's the thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Wow... have you got some kind of vendetta against one of them?!

I never got that feeling watching the show at all. I appreciate there is some "production" involved and I'm pretty sure they agree a sale and then get the punter to say a few scripted lines, specifically around the work that's been done on the car - but nothing about it ever seemed fake to me.

And I've said before I reckon Mike has to be one of the hardest working celebs out there.. I've seen him at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in November - he helps set the BIG stage show up that they run throughout the weekend, then is on stage the entire weekend, taking breaks to sign autographs and chat with fans, and then helps tear it all down again at the end of the weekend.. hard to fault that sort of guy to be honest.

Agreed. So what? So bloody what? It is a TV show. Not you're local specialist. They are a likeable duo, have some banter and we get to see retro cars on TV.

Better than Top Gear.

Thick sarcasm in my post, it is one of my favourite shows.

It was more having a go at people finding some sort of satisfaction in pointing out that things in the show are dramatised and fabricated. Of course they are, as with every single other thing on TV, but that isn't the point for fk's sake!

They both seem like great blokes, and I love the show.

My Dad got a call about one of his cars which is up for sale, asking if he minded being on WD, it wasn't from Mike Brewer.

It's a good show, but don't believe everything you see on it! wink

You mean Mike Brewer doesn't endlessly trawl the classifieds and drive the length and breadth of the country, inspecting and negotiating deals for WD?

And that the negotiations aren't actually done on camera?

Well isn't that a revelation hehe

"No, it's a shed"

Not read the thread but I think the show is great bit of light entertainment.

Ed's very watchable. I realise is scripted and set up etc.. but he genuinely seems to have the patience of a saint like any great mechanic it seems as well.

Compared to that dross with the Yank and that knob Bernie I think WD is pretty good. Ed China explains a lot of stuff in lay mans terms although he places a bit too much faith in WD40 for my liking. Mike Brewers infamous ''haggling skills'' are worth a laugh but of course it's staged. What TV isn't? In reality, wasn't the Beetle they restored actually Ed Chinas own car?

I just like watching it for the opportunity to see the type of cars I like on tv.
