Cheeky bds! Caveat Emptor and all that.
I hear from friends of friends in the military that Brewer gave a decent account of himself in Afghanistan and that he was widely regarded as a decent sort.
I heard the same myself - his TV persona is just that, a character for TV. Off camera he is a genuinely nice fella and not half as cheeky cockney motaaah tradaaah as he makes out. Proper petrolhead too if you follow him on twitter @mrwheelerdealerI hear from friends of friends in the military that Brewer gave a decent account of himself in Afghanistan and that he was widely regarded as a decent sort.

Nice to hear, I always though he was a bit of a knob.jomcvelia said:

Being 6ft7 myself, and formerly what was known as a "fat fker" I used to shop there, he was in the catalogue, usually with a load of rugby blokes
Bit off topic but i remember on one show MB saying he was over 6ft tall....wide yes but 6ft....hummmEdd is fking collossally tall.
Mike, probably 5ft10-6ft. Nothing special
stupid program really, buy this hos (heap of ****) get a mechanic to do all the dirty work, here there and everywhere getting this and that done, make 50p, all very well if you have a mechanic who'll work for free but other than that anyone doing the same thing would only lose money big time, same for the wrap they did on there, cost price of the film, not what it would cost anyone else in reality eg £1.5k - £2k

I agree the premise of the show is ridiculous - in reality they would lose money EVERY time if you factored in labour. However for anyone interested in doing a car up and keeping it, I thinks its very interesting.amoeba said:

I think that they should adjust the format/concept of the show to cater towards this (doing a car up and keeping it). Whilst I appreciate that this is contradictory to the original purpose of the programme, I personally find the show far too patronising and unrealistic to such an extent that it annoys me in to not watching it due to the fact that I find it way too staged and blatantly pre-fab.
A slight tweak and adjustment away from this "wheeler dealer" stereotype and I think it would turn it in to a far more believeable, entertainment show leaning towards practical advice / authoritive documentary, whilst the 2 x presenters can focus on instilling their personable, likeable and enthusiastic approaches and characteristics to keep it interesting.

I think the idea is that you do the work that Ed does and then sell it on, anyone can do Mikes job.wildcat45 said:

The military machines series that he did from Stan was actually quite good. the episode where there are on a rescue mission in a chinnok, that takes incoming on the way back, and the pilot even being hit in the head by a round was good.I hear from friends of friends in the military that Brewer gave a decent account of himself in Afghanistan and that he was widely regarded as a decent sort.
MB was clearly briking himself, but forcing himself to keep comentating on what was going on, 99% of people would have just curled up into a ball and cried!!!
I've got a lot mre respect for MB after that series... It wasnt the gung ho ex-eastenders actor look at me program , but a down to earth chap, clearly out of his depth but doing a proffesional job as he thought there was an important story to be told..
AS for Wheeler Dealers I do catch myself watching it, and lusting over the odd motor

What would be of some use, would be the actual hours that Ed has spent doing the various bits of the car, then if you are thinking of doing something similar, you might have an idea how much something might cost (if it was something you didn't fancy doing yourself).I *do* like to watch the program though . . .
