I agree the premise of the show is ridiculous - in reality they would lose money EVERY time if you factored in labour. However for anyone interested in doing a car up and keeping it, I thinks its very interesting.
Lets face it, IF you factored in labour costs no-one would every own an older car wink cos 99% of the time they buy one so the ycan do the work themselves and save money.

My 8 year old son loves Wheeler Dealers, so is very keen to join in when we 'do' wheeler dealers on my old porker, he loves doing the under car bits

I think this is what it's all about. My daughter helped me adjust an a/c belt the other day!

Apparently there's a new series shortly where Mike tools around the States, buying American cars and bringing them back for Edd to spanner away at. Rather looking forward to that.

I must confess I've watched a few of 'wheeler dealers' and cringe whenever MB opens his mouth. I'm sure he's a decent enough fella though. I remember him going to Germany and buying a mint e30 M3 for not a lot of cash in one episode. Mr Chinas labour rates must be pennies and it bugs me the way he suggests you can undo anything with a few squirts of WD40. As for TV programs being lies! You'll be telling me next that Clarksons opinions, that he gets paid handsomely to have, are all 100% true!

They wouldn't be sat on the front of my M3 like that.

As far as I can see, the Wheeler Dealers way of doing up cars is only really sustanable as a self funding hobby rather than a buisness model, if I had a larger garage I'd be doing similar.

The show's more about keeping classics and future classics on the road rather than flipping cars for a few quid. Mike's on twitter, theyr'e still in the US for the show, should be entertaining when it airs!

Ed China is quite obviously a legend. Outside lane on a sofa? Champagne!

Wheeler Dealers is a bit different and not 'too' dumbed down. Always watch it if I catch it on tv.

... I'd like them to film an episode or two where Ed buys the car and Mike shows off his own skills with a spanner, WD40 and a box of matches.

The show is about making a commissionable 'telly' programme that people can escape into for half an hour of entertainment, with a couple of decent petrolheads doing the presenting - nothing more.

One of my favourite shows on TV, love the fact in the first series they had 1K to do up a car and Edd "mate" Dick would alway do a free respray wort more than their budget laugh and god MB is such a awful sales man! I think I've only seen him once sell a car with the full asking price.

I will record these and watch on a Saturday morning with the kids.

Better than pre teen american angst cr*p they would watch otherwise.

No idea what the two chaps are like in reality, but well formed TV personas of wide boy car trader and enthusiast repair man.

Can't see what is to get wound up about, bit of harmless fun; though it does drive my wife up the wall that they never make any money after factoring in the labour involved. Personally I just switch the brain off and watch

A show made by petrolheads for petrolheads - I love it. I just don't understand what there is not to like about it TBH.

It can't be any worse than that ''Fast Lane revisited'' crap on Motors. It looks like its been filmed on their phones and the script has been pinched out of Clarksons bin bags.

Sorry to reignite this old thread (to those who have a problem with it) but did no one else see the irony in China selling his Beetle to the production company to make the Beach Buggy, then not use any of it because it was too rotten!? Good business Mr China!
Last I saw he did up a VW van at considerable expense and then decided to keep it for himself. Nice work!

Great show.
Update now the van is in a scrap yard, fire damage ?.
