I dunno I reckon my 98 spec doesnt look that dated...

Theres nothing much more I can say that hasnt already be said. Wonderful car, I even thought about selling it until I realised there was nothing, and I mean nothing for a similar price that can match the sheer fun on offer here.

As for it not being quick, it might not be TVR fast, but trust me it can mix it with the cream of the crop of the modern hot hatches while being 10x more fun to drive.

I've owned my DC2 for three and half years. It really is one of the best value performance cars out there. It's reliable, cheap to run, and I average 32mpg. I've done dozens of trackdays and 70 laps of the 'Ring in it and the only major expense has been a replacement gearbox, which is probably the mechanical weak-spot, if there is one.

Forgot to add: it doesn't use a drop of oil, pulls as hard as it did when new, yet has done 126k miles (50k with me)!

no offence meant!
in comparison though i think they look a bit more "90s" the round light looks a bit "late 90s" (i.e. always a bit behind the 'style curve'). either way i don't mean to suggest they look crap r anything - just that they look their age (at least)... seeing as those were the good old days that's not a bad thing as such.

i'd love one.

3rd/4th gear synchros do seem to be a weak point, I had mine replaced at 46,000 miles, but that's about it.

Truly wonderful car and I wish I hadn't killed mine.

I have a 2.2 VTEC JDM Prelude and have also driven a ITR and found that the prelude is a bit smoother and has a lot more creature conforts than the ITR (well i guess thats what they were designed for) but nothing i have ever driven matches the ITR for hell raising fun and the driving experience is unmatched!

I'm on #2 - owned one for over 3 years and over 50k miles as a daily driver, sold it, and 18 months later bought another one, this time for keeps.

In a straight line, any of the modern hot-hatches will beat it. But show it a twisty road and you'll need to be very committed to keep up with it...and behind the wheel your grin will be in danger of going all the way round! The steering, the gearchange, the damping, the way the pedals all respond instantly AND progressively (lessons lost in modern cars IMHO!), the way the damn thing behaves under you...it's effin awesome! biggrin

i wouldnt say any of the modern hot hatches at all would beat it performance wise performance figures of 0-60 in 6.2s for a car that has 1.8l na engine is amazing, compare that with ur focus st's, megane 225's, astra vxrs, the only one that i would say is noticeably quicker is the mazda3 MPS,all with 2.0l+ turbos and then theres the handling......biggrin

Owned one for 6 years, nothing went wrong, nothing fell off. After two years away from one I am serious tempted to get another as a daily driver.
