I love it and i want one. Thanks for the write up..

Although i honestly would have thought it would trash a f430 Scud on the road and track. Has any magazine yet pitted the two against each other?

DBS and GT2? Totally different beasts, one a Homologation special, one a fast GT car!

Carlos

edit, Nissan eat ya heart out!

its still just a 911

so for some it will the best thing ever

but for others (me) i just dont care because i wouldnt want one
Surely this is a joke, yes it resembles a 911, the latest model, a very nice looking 911, but the main thing is, its one of the fastest cars in the world. It is also has shed loads of power, and will be a handful and massive fun. I can understand people maybe saying they don't want a Carrera (although even those are now good) but not a GT2.

Its also very good value for money, if you look at the price the 993gt2 was (more expensive) and that was about 20 years ago!
full respect for it, it sounds awsome but for my money (i i could ever have so much for a car) wouldnt be going anywhere near one. sorry

I'd still rather have a 993 GT2.

They are being offered to the trade at silly, silly money at the moment.

I'd love one lick

I still dont understand how being thrashed to 100mpg by an F1 is almost as quick. Or is a second difference 'almost' now?

I'd still have one biggrin But not for £130k.

so nobody cares to point out that the 997 Turbo actually has 480bhp and not 450 as per review? the difference is not as great in terms of output, but had this power been given to the Turbo it would probably, and im only speculating, accelerate to 60mph a tenth or two faster than the current gt2 due to its 4wd. still, what an amazing car.

but excitement aside, who'd take this over a carrera gt? smile

Regardless of how close to the McLaren F1 the GT2 does the ton--and it is an impressive achievement for Porsche--the F1 is about far more than the figures it generates. It's such an impressive car in large part because of the philosophy behind it. It's about the feel of the driving experience. The F1 can't be reduced to mere numbers.

Someone with a budget of 130k as opposed to 300k.
But don't let semantics prevent you from trying to find fault with such a good car!!!

GT2 Ooh how I want one but Carrera gt... I think I just wet myself! Why can't all porsche models sound like that! Forget the looks, forget the speed its the sound that leaves you with a lasting impression when you see/drive a proper car!

Turbo 911's have just never quite got the sound right.. what they should have done is fit 2 turbo's to the Carrera GT and make a Carrera GT2 NOW THAT WOULD BE A PROPER CAR!

Sounds and looks like a fantastic latest incarnation of the ultimate 911 thumbup

If I had the money to spend, it'd definitely be on my list of cars to try. Many would say it's the only sensible choice but since when has spending that sort of money on a car been a purely rational decision?

Edit: The opinion of "it's a great car but I don't want one" is perfectly valid and justifiable to individuals.

Does not even one part of you acknowlage that if you ever drove one you might change your mind? what interests you in a car? for me its the driving experience. I just do not understand how people rules cars out point blank without ever driving them.
Plenty of people have and they rate them does that not say anything to you?

Looks are subjective so if you do not like it fair enough.

I've found the older and more sensible you get, the more you actually want a Porsche. The 996 actually made me go off them a bit, but the 997 has brought back my admiration of the car. Maybe Kingb is young and as is at the age when he thinks only rich tts buy porsche's rather than keen drivers too. I would be interested to know where he would put his £130K?

Me ....not so keen on the Carrera GT looks but it's all personal preference really. I can understand people preferring the "more supercar looks" of the Carrera

And mine actualy the new one makes me go funny down below.

that said I would drive all the competion first. certainly wouldnt rule anything out of hand. The GT2 would be on the list if not number 1 on the list.

Another serious contender, but where would you park it? smile Most the public will just see a 911, I think thats why they appeal to people.

A great car.

But... When you buy a car like that, i'd want it to feel special. And though, i'm sure it does I think a GT3 RS would feel more "special". As would a gallardo, or a F430.

And i'd echo what someone else said, you can't put a Macca F1 into numbers.
