Weather willing the car Ollie drove will be at the Connaught Street event not far from Lancaster Gate above Regents Park this evening between 1600 and 2100, as will several other pieces of rare metal including I believe F1 cars, Roary the Racing Car and Sir Stirling Moss.
First time I've seen Sir Stirling referred to as a "piece of rare metal" !!!Edited by Felix7 on Thursday 15th May 11:31

The images of the mk1 and mk2 here look stunning as a desktop image (especially if you have a widescreen imac...)

Would be a fantastic car to own as something a bit different!

Always toyed with the idea of getting a good replica,i should fit at 6'3". Still one of the best looking cars,if not the best.
I doubt you'd fit in - I have a Ford GT and at your height it's tight, the replicas are smaller...Thanks Oli for another excellent write up, and Dinkel and others for the pics and prose, the GT40 is another iconic treasure from the swinging sixties/Fo Mo Co Total Performance liberated era that means so much, and like the Cobra the evolution of the replica has allowed mere mortals to live the dream; this has not compromised our fascination with an original car whenever we are in close proximity..
Saw/heard a wonderful Mk One in Gulf colors at Goodwood Speed Fest years ago, tremendous 289 music, the shape is as 'right'as any mid engined car ever has been, love it.
