I don't think Ferraris catch on fire any more than a normal car, it's just more likely to make the news because it's a Ferrari.
A few have suggested that in other discussions that I've been in about exotica fires, but look at it this way... if the same percentage of Fords, Vauxhalls, etc. caught fire as Ferraris we wouldn't be able to drive anywhere because the roads would be clogged-up with burned-out shells. It wouldn't need to be on the news - we'd see it every day!

They said it drove up the back of a lorry, i don't think it did, i'm sure it just went up in smoke.

Is fire a common problem with Ferraris? As I once saw an Italian-plated 575 on fire at the side of the A20 a couple of years ago.
Yeah, what is it with fire and Ferraris?

I've seen an F355 and a 360M up in smoke. Is it just dodgy Italian wiring?
Thats exactly what I was thinking.

On this site over the years I recon just about every thread started about a car on fire has had a Ferrari involved.

355's 360's etc etc been quite a few IIRC

Theres abit too much glee in this thread for my liking. An amazing car is destroyed and someone potentially could have been hurt/killed.

I thought this place was for car enthusiasts, not jealous internet warriors.

Whatever the specific reason for the flames, 600+bhp is always going to generate a lot of heat. If you can't get rid of this heat, or there is something exposed to it that really shouldn't be, this kind of result is inevitable.

Bit late to be worrying about what the owners handbook says about fire prevention surely - unles he's checking the warranty details smile

Nasty, but looks like nobody was hurt thankfully, and another piece of auto-porn goes to the scrappy frown

It looks like the owner was a drug baron trying to destroy evidence. And failing.
