I think it's totally overpriced and that rather than enhancing it, the Lorinser mods actually detract from it. Time is rarely kind to after market body kits and wheels, particularly on a Mercedes. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between. The money they are asking for that car would get you into a very nice original example, or possibly even a tidy 560, without the tasteless add ons. All IMHO of course. smile
Cheers.

Sort of. GMS by way of Ultimate 7 I think it was.

That 740 Sport in Mora is stunning.
Sorry aint been around for a while.
Yes, the 750i came from GMS but 4 weeks earlier it came from Ultimate7. Chap that bought it from U7 ran into health problems.
I know both Ian @ U7 and Glenn at GMS and they're both good guys. The 7 is still going strong with few if any problems, am very pleased with it.

If you mean http://www.gmscars.co.uk/bmw_740i_sport__individua... one I popped by yesterday and ended up putting a deposit down. As always I'm always extremely wary when buying from dealers at this end of the market, but all seemed to check out fine.

The car hasn't been properly prepped yet, however the exterior is virtually spotless with only a couple of marks as far as I could see plus the interior is in remarkable condition considering it's age. It is a head-turner, no doubt.

Not dealt before with GMS before but Glenn seemed a completely genuine bloke and was keen to show me the standard of prep for his other cars, all seems very acceptable. I guess the proof of the pudding will become clear after I pick the car up, but I am promised a full 3 month warranty and an oil service before I collect plus some other odds and ends to be sorted and of course I'll be looking very closely to ensure these have been done before handing over the wedge.

Ultimately though I think you have to trust someone. Yes the cars are very highly priced and yes of course this could all be a disguise to elaborate clocking scams and the like, but I thoroughly doubt as much. I take comfort from previous buyers comments and I think it's pretty easy to see whether a car is a dog or not with one's own eyes. After this my view is it's basically down to me and what I feel is VFM with a heavy dose of caveat emptor and if it feels right, do it...!

Now just looking forward to a spot of Bavarian bargerie and fuel bills to empty my tear-ducts...

I love this. Debadged, of course.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

5.5 litre V8.
388 bhp & 391 lb ft.
5.4 secs and the usual top speed.
So discreet as to be invisible.
Mileage on the right side of borkful.
Post rust-era.

Struggling to think of a better one-car-does-it-all solution really.

Might one see average fuel consumption starting with a 2 on that?

Around mid '06 by the look of it, later in some models than others it looks like.

This thread has gone quiet. Been looking at 760Li's today. High mileage one for £8k (post haggle);

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Looks quite well for the miles.

Didn't realise these are 445bhp and 443 lb/ft torque. Apparently a DMS remap sees them up nearer 480bhp and 485lb/ft - monstrous power.

This one is older but I prefer the wheels and it looks good in blick;

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Did these only come as LWB or can a SWB 760i be had?

yes

The F02 760Li is the first V12 Seven to never be offered in SWB/F01 guise, mainly due to an almost total lack of demand, hence killing them off at the E65/66 facelift stage. Suits me in that case as I prefer pre-facelift E65 exteriors to post-, but unfortunately I prefer post-interiors.

Sounds similar to me! If I could graft an E65/66/F01/F02 interior into an E38, I would be one happy man.

As it is, I am keeping my eye *very* closely on E65/66 cars. When I thought they couldn't get any cheaper, they just keep falling! Surely they have bottomed out.

It doesn't help that I have just managed to up the BHP on the Saab 9000 for the grand total of £0, up to a respectable value. That is currently keeping me (and my bank manager) quite amused.

Despite this, at some point, I will make the upgrade. It is just a matter of whether or not I jump the E65/66 and get directly to the more modern variants.

The 760 models seem to attract quite a premium over, for example, the 750. Does make you wonder if it is worth it...
