I have done - it says there is a disengage under a cover you open with a coin but not a hangy down parachute type rip cord - so tempted to pull it ....
Pull to open.

What's the worst that could happen? Something will just open.

Sadly another example of no pdi, the pull is to put the car into neutral if no power. It sits under a lockable flap for a reason as it kills drive to the wheels. More hassle to get sorted.

I think DSL has lost his sense of humour where this barge is concerned! I'll start the bidding at £15k! hehe

Nah it's fine, booked in for paint next week and a new door handle and once over week after.
It will be perfect soon and do you know I turned the radio and heater off on the way home and it's sooooo quiet and refined. Better than my Lexus on leccy power smile

I find my 740i more relaxed with the radio off. The ability to just punt along at a comfortable rate without noise in the background is a good thing.

As is giving it a good punt among a country lane. Leaving the E38 in sport and attacking corners a bit (though not GTI levels of attacking) leads you to feeling like you're in a dirty great 3 series. It's a rather wonderful thing.

4 figure bills for a hose and a oil seel however are not but, well, meh.

think I'd rather own that than the 760i, yet I'd probably buy the 760i because it seemed like more of a bargain. I bet the Audi's fuel economy is pretty poor compared to the BMW too.
bet it isn't

my mark 2 audi A8 4.2 used to do 28mpg on a run. latter ones seem to be better.

of course you get it to 3 gallons to the mile if you tried REALLY hard (whcih was always amusing smile )

My old S6 with a very similar engine to your A8 managed between 14 and 22 mpg, average was about 19. Lower gearing is part of the cause, not sure how much the higher state of tune affected it.

Of course, that's irrelevant because the V10 is a different engine. Reputed to be a rather thirsty one. Whereas the 760i like all BMWs is surprisingly efficient.

ETA: a quick search on here reveals 18.6mpg average for one S8 owner...

My A8 4.2 has averaged 21 MPG over the last 7 months and 22,000 miles. I love it, but am starting to crave more power. smile

Great question. The W12 is great value but lacks soul. The V10 is glorious but must be due to drop a chunk of its value soon. On that basis, I think I'm inclined to hang on to my V8 for a while yet, then get myself a nice XFR! smile

Bought a new XFR in 2010 after a cls55 no comparison the Jags quality is veneer deep the depth of engineering does not compare with German metal. Spend time in one before deciding
