Could be frighteningly expensive though: WBAC is £4,620!

Indeed. WBAC is always underpriced, but that isn't a £10k car. My 2006 750i Sport was a grand cheaper 6 months ago, with the same mileage.
I'd put that at £8k max, it doesn't even have night vision for god's sake wink

This one was a much better deal, went for about £7k in the end.

Chap started out advertising it at around £9k though...

A rare beast indeed! Although I do have to wonder if an M5 would make more sense at that price, if you could put up with a bit less comfort and space.

I do like this shape a lot. Nice to see them heading south of 20k now and heading swiftly towards four figures... smile

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=2...

I couldn't help noticing that these unloved cars are approaching 20k with perfect reasonable mileage and good spec. There are 2 petrols on autotrader at the moment - its out of thread range (for now), but the 550i could be an idea in a few month's time for a discerning buyer. AUC is quite appealing due to the complication of these things. I have no idea whether this is good value or not::

There were some very cheap lease deals on those a few years back. Interior is incredible (based on a 7), they are certainly practical, but I don't think I could live with the looks.

I kind of do like it in the above spec, though. I think I could live with a 550 quite easily.

I think all could be forgiven with a V8 and 440lb/ft hehe

I'm a sucker for a V8 too, but I'd have to look at a 5 series touring at that price point, although the GT's interior is certainly it's biggest strength and some would prefer the higher driving position.

Interior looks like standard BMW issue?
Practicality wise doesn't quite hit the mark either ?Autocar say "there is leg room to rival the more expensive 7-series, if slightly less head room due to the sweeping, coupé-like roofline. It is also worth noting that although seatbelts are provided for three rear passengers, the middle seat is good for only occasional use."
and.....

"Visibility isn’t great, though; it’s difficult to judge where the extremities of the car are, due to its design and size, and wide D-pillars and a narrow rear windscreen limit visibility for lane changes.
For a car that is longer than a Land Rover Discovery to offer just 440 litres of boot capacity with the seats up is less-than impressive, and the dual boot opening is also a little limited in terms of practicality. The vast tailgate is useful enough, but the curving roofline will limit carrying capacity and the saloon opening reveals a letterbox-style slot that you can’t see into unless you bend down to just above bumper level.
Still, the rear seats fold flat with one pull of the same handle that allows them to be reclined, freeing up a reasonable 1700 litres of load space."
