And if would sell for £17K when fixed, would be fixed by vendor and sold for £17K

Surely it's less about whether it will sell for £17k, and more about whether it can be fixed to a standard to be sold for £17k, for £7k.

I guess the answer is a resounding "NO."

Someone bought a 550i touring recently and found it a bit smokey. He suspected valve stem oil seals and had them changed. Then it continued to smoke and found a bore was cracked. Now its having a replacement block fitted at a cost of 5500. So a new engine is probably 5 - 6 grand.

I was told that a replacement engine from BMW for my 545i would be £11,000.

If the Overfinch was a bit risky, is this a better proposition?

I feel duty bound to post a B10 V8 Touring. It looks mint bar some misting of the headlights, however the colour combo just doesn't work for me.

I don't think any big car looks good in white. Small cars with motorspor connotations look fine, anything hefty looks like a fridge freezer

For most people, cars are "white goods" though. (Quashquai owners, etc.) An Alpina E39 isn't though. This one looks wrong, but could be wrapped.

I'm guessing that's a Jap import based on the auction grading. Bet it's very clean underneath. Shame it looks like a refrigerator.

The low mileage is also typical of a Japanese import (I don't know why but maybe they don't do much driving!)

That looks great.

Aren't Japanese cars typically RHD, hence the number of their older cars over here and in New Zealand?

Yes

My Jap Import e39 was a 2000, RHD and absolutely rust free after only 16 months in this [damp] country. Notice the Square plates. They're a dead giveaway. I've given it to my cousin who uses it occasionally. I only paid £600 for it which is absolute madness. Past the MOT with no advisories - it did need a headlight adjusting.

European cars are more often than not are ordered in LHD/Euro Spec in Japan. Its seen as a status symbol.

I think a German car that has lived in Japan that's RHD is actually a bit of a rarity!
