I presume these are complimentary?! hehe

It's my old wagon. Sad to see her up for sale so soon after I sold it (8 months I think) but he did ping me and say he kind of rushed into buying it, and was I interested in having it back. I was... kind of... but I have a lease car now so it's a no go. Plus - they do say never go back, right?

100% complimentary - the only thing I would change are the wheels but thats just a personal preference. The 550 estate was one of my dream cars for a long while.

Was she expensive to run (apart from the obvious fuel costs)?

smile

It had 3 sets of wheels which I gave to the seller. The other two were standard E60 18" wheels.

Not really expensive, no big surprises. Little bits and pieces here and there but they were all stuff that were generic E60 issues so would have been the same if I had a 520D. The engine is the most reliable bit of the car - and it is a peach.

Well, I thought it was excellent. Not long had new brakes all round, new compressor, well maintained with BMW and specialist history etc. I wouldn't have had any issues with taking it back put it that way.

Fuel was a lot better than people think. I was averaging about 25/26 out of it, my driving was more biased to motorways but did have a fair amount of local stuff thrown in. I used to have to go up to Leeds with work occasionally and on a long run like that I'd get mid 30s from it. 70l tank, would see 550 miles. I think the manual gearbox helps.

A good friend of mine made some enquiries about the above car and all is not as the advert would have you believe.

Feedback from my friend which I dont think he will mind me sharing;

"The current owner is a part time car dealer.

He bought it from GMS in 2014 as a retail customer and paid £10k for it.

Shortly after he bought it, he had a problem with the gearbox and GMS ignored his calls and emails, eventually leading to a case in the small claims court, which got him a payout.

The "Full BMW Service History" is nothing of the sort. It has had one service at a main dealer in 2006 at 13k miles.

It has evidence of four further services in its life, all at independent garages, none of whom claim to be BMW specialists. These are 26k in Dec 07, 40k in Sep 09, 45k in 11, 48k in 12 and nothing else since, although he claims he's serviced it himself.

He says the car is immaculate, with the exception of two doors requiring painting, due to some rust starting to come through.

He is the ninth owner.

He says he wants £15k or close.

I don't think he'll be getting it from me."

I ran a 545 for a year a few years ago (driving ban curtailed the ownership) and that 4.4 V8 was just immense.

Amazing cars.

No apology needed, you weren't to know. On the face of the adverts it looks a very appealing car.

Have we had this yet?

Looks to have been on since September by the advert number, so perhaps there are issues, or they will take a haggle?

Issue is price. I know the models aren't directly comparable with the one linked having a turbo and more power but an E60 550i just a few years older and similar mileage is half the price.

If you bought that you'd have to accept £6k+ depreciation in the next couple of years IMO.

Of course you would, but any seven year old mass produced car in this category will continue depreciating for another decade.

The F10 is a much, much better car than the E60 though, and not because it has a turbocharger on its V8.

How much margin would a trader have on one of these?
