Lucie - you're obviously new to PH and to the general 'style' of posting on here. Generally speaking, posters try to contribute with decent grammar/spelling and less 'txt spk' - mainly because we're of more mature years wink

So feel free to post, but try to adopt the same approach. It will save you a whole lot of flaming and will earn you far more respect as a contributor.

Still hanging out with Simon?
I'm on the West Coast now. Did you get rid of the V12?

Great story.. Good to read most of the comments too.

I have been looking at a few 323s of late and thinking about chopping in my 86 camaro for one of these rare little beasts to blat around in.

How's the car looking these days?

i was looking at one of these on the bay as a project.... timeless design and with some modern underpinnings a hell of a stealthy weapon.

Hats off to the man!

Cheers, I was at Bimmerfest in Santa barbara a few weeks back.
323is werent officially sold in the USA but grey market cars were brought in. No less than 17 turned up!
My mate Jeffs one is a 2.9 litre-absolutely no rust being from here. There were a few Turbo charged 2 litre 4 cylinders and even an M50 24 valver , an Alpina B6 also. We all rode shot gun.
Made me really miss mine.

Yeh the V12 was replaced by a 4.0 X300 XJ Sport! Great car, as you will testify?

I saw Simon last weekend in Manchester actually.

Lots of good, long driving roads in the USA! I hate all the green nonsense that's clouding everything though. Hug a Hummer, you know it makes sense!!

New Jag out very soon, do you miss all that?!!

I miss the Jag stuff Alot Andy,
Yeah the AJ16 Jags were bombproof, I still want to own an X308, but it will probably be a V8, mainly for sentimental reasons.
I felt I was really in the midst of some exciting stuff back then and over here I'm dealing with emissions crap, and trouble shooting big heavy duty trucks, often working for pricks who are younger than me , know nothing and look up Golfing websites all day. However I'm paid an order of magnitude better and love the lifestyle very much.
Yeah I know what you mean about the green nonsense, in the UK, at least people are cynical toward it, over here, on the West coast especially, there's a unquestioning pendulus Knee Jerk reaction to embrace it.
In light of which I'm extremely proud of the purchase of my Dodge Ram Medium duty Hemi Pick up truck and my 7.2 litre 1970 DOdge Challenger!

Ok at last big progress is being made on my E21 (which is currently in the Netherlands). Everything stripped off the body, Z3 M coupe subframes to be used front and rear new big brakes.Z3 M coupe Torsen diff. 5 stud wheel hubs (with 1970/early 80s style BMW E24 6 series wheels to be used- to keep the authentic period look).
I was just asked if I wanted to go for the E36 M3 "GT" aluminium lower wishbones or the stock steel ones of the E36 M3. Does anyone here know if this makes a big difference? Did we get the M3 GT in the UK? Do the aluminium arms have fatigue/durability problems in daily use?

Needless to say that I'm dead excited! bounce
I don't have money to do the 3.1 M20 conversion at the moment so it will stay the current revvy 2.7.

There may have been for the E46 Diesel with run flats.

If I wasnt slacking and not working at the moment....
Not sure that link still working, but Sapphire blue with leather for £2600 seems fair. Not sure pictures do it justice

Great write up, shows that following your instinct can pay off. That was some big leap for a first car, and even greater strides to keep it going. Top work!

I watched this film "Love the Beast" with Eric Bana ,Jerremy Clarkson, Jay Leno
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmkpsQmsRpI
and it reminded me alot of my 'journey' with my E21 'Beast'.Really reccommend this film to any car enthusiast.
I'm still waiting on the completion of my E21. The body's front and rear sections have been renewed, the Z3 M rear suspension is being accomodated but there are problems fitting the front subframes. 6 speed Getrag 226 seems to fit fine.
