RE: PH Heroes: Lancia Delta Integrale
Discussion
this is a really great article on the lancia delta intergrale, people do not realise this car won 6 world rally championships. I am lucky as i own both a red lancia delta intergrale on a 1989 and also a 1986 audi quattro ur and i have to say if i could afford a ford cosworth escort thay call this the holy trinity, of 1980s motoring. So well done pistonheads for your article thanks
Well done Ollie Stallwood - you've tried to sum up in words the sense of occasion when being in the presence of the integrale - it's difficult to speak or write what makes the delta special, it doesn't make sense especially economic but what it does spell out clearly in LARGE letters and that’s PURE PASSION.

No, the holy trinity would be Integrale, ur-Quattro, M3.SS7
boys boys, boys, no need to argue..
as someone that had both, still have the evo 9, I can honestly say that both are great fun to drive... the main thing I like about the mitsubishi is that it doesn't nearly twist as much as the grale does.. thus having more solid feel.. IMHO, the mitsubishi (and/or the subaru if you wish) is the spiritual succesor to the grale..
some more pics..

im telling you an fq360 is a much much much faster car to any speed.
look it up on google. integrale 0-100 17.5secs evofq360 0-100 10 secs. thats a big margin.
;)
Hi, how can you compare a 360bhp model Mitsi against a 210/215bhp Lancia Evo, now get a same BHP Lancia and it maybe a different story, it will definatley be a scary ride in a grale rather than the Evo, the Lancia is def a more involved drive as there are no computers saving you everytime a corner comes, Lancia is much more of a drivers car and the earlier Grale's with NO ABS are much more of a challenge.......i know which i would have everytime.look it up on google. integrale 0-100 17.5secs evofq360 0-100 10 secs. thats a big margin.

As per usual some keyboard toting ph numty didnt actually read what was said. I mentioned safe and sane speeds because you know doing 80-100mph down a winding country road ISNT usually safe or sane. Do you know why? Because they are *public* roads and therefore have all manner of strange obstacles on them. This is called driving in the real world, not some fantasy.
Whatsmore I can, have done and frequently do prove it. With real cars. And a real road.
More specically the road between the Kingston roadabout off the A26 to Lewes and from the roundabout then into Newhaven. It is my standard test road and Ive driven Elises down there, Mx5s, Griffs, Sagaris, Vettes, 964 Turbo S lwts and my Integrale down there. I know that road very well and the time it takes to do the run. Across the all the cars on a clear run there is invariably only a 30sec cover in time. Over a period of around 11 minutes on a public road...that is nothing and can be entirely attributable to road conditions on the day, weather, any possible obstacles or perceived obstacles ahead.
Its called the real world.

Twist/rust/crack and die :-), the only downside sadly...
Rollcage em and they wont twist (done), look after them in a garage and they wont rust (done) and it will only die if someone runs into it or the driver going nuts and putting it through a stone wall and into a field (not done), also if you buy a good one there should be no rust, iv had mine 9 years now and i actually bought mine flood damaged and TBH iv hardly had anything welded.Vlado - super pics. Really making me seriously consider getting back into 'grale ownership.
I would like to know a couple of things. First of all, I wasn't aware that silver was a factory colour option on the Evo 2 - I presume the silver one is an Evo 1?
Secondly, the bianco perlato Evo 2: could you advise if the colour is a close match for the current pearl white on Maseratis? I ask because I am considering a bare metal restoration project. If the Maserati colour is not a close match, perhaps you could advise a car in current production which is offered in a similar hue.
Thanks,
Harris

there was never a factory silver EVO... those were painted later on by the owners.. although, that was one of the colours I was considering when I was restoring my grale..
as for the bianco perlato.. I have yet to see the new perlato maserati in flesh, so can not comment on that.. but just two things.. bianco perlato i a #$%&# to fix if you have any scratches, and I would suspect that the final colour has a lot to do with the person painting the car, so if I were you I'd have a word with a specialist or two first..

Good point - hadn't thought of that.as for the bianco perlato.. I have considered the following colours:
Nero (which I don't think was a factory colour on the Evo 2) - gives the car loads of attitude but is a bugger to keep clean and swirls/flaws show up easily.
Giallo - very Italian, brings out the shape of the car really well, but if I bring the car back to the UK, I run the risk of being stopped by the police all the time.
Bianco perlato - amazing, unusual colour. Brings out the lines, but now that you mention it, will be murder to colour match.
Flat white - classic racing colour but not sure if it's just a little too dull without the decals, and I can't bring myself to drive a fully liveried rally car.
The silver looks great. Have plenty of time to consider my options so won't be rushing any decisions.
I test drove a bianco perlato and very nearly bought it, but wasn't sure about the blue leather interior. Apparently this colour is very popular in Italy, not so much over here.
I went for the lagos blue in the end, with 'champagne' leather seats (a bit lighter than the tan in dealer collection and verde york)
