I'm actually worried by the whole politics thing. The Tories screwed up (esp. with sleaze) in the mid-90s and it's taken 15 years to make them electable...mainly because Labour have screwed-up in even bigger style.

So what's next...the Tories get into power, realise there IS NO opposition, and then do what THEY want. How long until the public get royally fed-up with their mistakes and re-elect Labour?

Is this what politics has come to? Waiting (far too long and far too late) until it's blindingly obvious that the current pack are incompetent sociopathic ****s and then electing the other bunch until they prove the same, in some awful amplified oscillation that may well end in either societal collapse, economic collapse, or revolution?
Political apathy is the friend of the ruling class as it allows them a good run in power before anyone realises what is actually going on. The constant flow of spin seems to be a very effective tool in the divide and conquer tactics, if not boring most people into a state of disinterest.

As we have seen in recent months, apathy only seems to stop when the actions (or inaction) of the Govt affect the individual. For that reason the Brown Govt are clearly doomed. Though post Brown Govt, what happens next?

Somehow as a country we need to ensure that there are sufficient limitations to what future Govt's can do. As a democracy with a developed legal system, Personal freedoms and the right to rule of law should be protected. Eroding our civil liberty should be considered treason!

We then need to demand of our leaders that the some tests are applied to any new policy/initiative such as:

"is it in the interests of the electorate?"
"Is it value for (taxpayers) money?".

I personally think that this revived "in service of the people" mind-set should first be demanded at a local level, where so often the opposite is true. As taxpayers we have a right to demand that our money is spent wisely and for the good of the people, and if it isn't we should have the right to remove the wasters from power immediately.

As a Nation we have about 18 months to decide what we ACTUALLY want from our Government, else the next decade will again be one of apathy and disservice to the citizens of this land.

Dont have much time for any of the parties currently on offer, the only guaranteed fact is that the country allways, allways, allways, goes steeply downhill when the shower are in power. I dont see an upward path being provided by the tories or any other party (not least because it will take whowever gets in next, and the country a decade at least to recover from the damage done by the shower of sh*t) but at least with the shower of sh*t kicked out, we have a `slight' chance of avoiding our downward spiral into even deeper sh*t.

Eco towns, where you are not allowed to leave, personal transport vilified in favour of the cattle trucks, we know as trains. workers shipped about in buses, will these soon become lorries? The most cctv`d nation on the planet.
All very sinister, I wonder if the shower of sh*t are the ones who originally ran the prisoner village?
The shower of sh*t really are getting scary now! Remember we are not a number!
p.s roll on the next general election!

Didn't Big Brother try to discourage the party members from leaving the city in 1984?!?!?!

AS for the Olympics, won't somebody please think of the CO2 - all that concrete and building works, then electricity to light it all, and all those planes flying people in from all around the world. I don't see the Eco Worriers complaining about that though for some reason.
