i took my 18 months old car to the chertsey branch , I was told I would get £9,700 so I thought hell why not . They took it at the back and they told me it has rust on the quarter panel and its been crashed and badly fixed .

They offered me £8,300 just because i made the trip down to them and they told me for them its a trade car and it would go to straight to the auction.

It is possible it did happen as i find myself sleep walking and with no remaining memory for weeks !

I got a rather hilarious quote for my 86 Merc 190e 2.3 16. There's not usually many good one advertised for under £3000, they offered me under £200... It's worth more than that in scrap!

Wish I did, maybe then it would've been easier to take the news that my precious car has been crashed and repaired while I wasnt looking by fairies

I know if you sent that to auction you may get £3-400 one day but the next day you may get £2500-3000 (if thats what you say it worth) They do need to edge their bets. My advice dont sell an old ish car to them and only sell your later cars if you need the money.

I did this with the TVR late Friday. 95 Chimaera, 5.0, 54k.

1st email said they couldn't value it.
2nd email said they could after all and offered £1250!

hahaha, put mine in ok they didnt have the correct variant of VR4, near immaculate bodywork and interior about 97k miles or so cant be bothered to do the km conversion and work it out. added in cd player, car pc(tv,dvd, satnav all in one) came back £590 taking the mick

skanky bds put on our 840, 104kmiles on clock, we are 2nd owner, fbmwsh, apart from a bit of paint on the nose its in pretty much showroom condition(seriously meticulous previous owner, paid bmw to put the new 4.4 V8 in after doing 50kmiles in it) its taken 9 years to find this car and we have looked at a fair few, for the condition i would personally value it about 8k, they offered....£2,705, having a complete laugh, shirley?

You must realise that their system is computerised and that if they can't find your car on CAP then they will pass it on to a buyer who will give you rock bottom money as they do not want your car!!!

Put mine on their, I think if I am been realistic, its not too far off the mark. Mint condition 01 9-3 Aero Coupe with 70K mile. £2200. It will probably sell for about 4K, but that is not the point, this is p/x prices.

Your car will go directly to auction and due to the current economic situation, I think they are just being very, very cautious.

I just got two of my cars quoted on there and one of them was about right and the other was a fair way off,

the one that was about right, is a small engined normal car, the one that was a fair way off was a more performance orientated car

so I think it depends on the car,

It's bound to isn't it.

You might buy a £500 daily snotter unseen but would you buy a TVR privately unseen? Or a Porsche, M3, Merc etc?
