Why are these cars ignored by Top Gear. Anybody going to make the trip to the factory?

Because it's a race car with plates on.

they had the Ascari and Atom on there. Even did the Radicals although their times were dismissed. Can we count the Bowlers too?

Nice to see a british sports car that can hold its own in any company as for top gear i would not worry too much about that if i were them they already smashed the record for there cicuit last year

I like how they're still so coy about tyres. "E-Marked Road tyres" could be anything, I've seen a fair few ultima's on Kumho V70a which is hardly road rubber.

Either way, I know I still want one lick One of my favourite memories is having an Ultima and 360 blow past me on the back straight at Bedford size by side and watching the Ultima back into the left right first cloud9

There was a british silver Ultima when we went to the 'ring a few weeks ago. Sounded gorgeous and very quick. Think they had to do a noise check on it before they unleashed it on the track!! It wasn't quite doing sub-7 minute laps though, unfortunately haha

I was at the Nordschleife when it pitched up. They had all the tyre kickers looking over it. And the driver was strutting about as if he was allready the fastest man around there. it went out on it's first practice lap. When i got up Keschlesen there it was, parked up on the right near Angst kurve with a large puddle of Oil or coolants behind it. Looked like the thing had lunched itself and finnally spewed it guts as he was pulling up. Marshals were on the scene and his lap was about 50 minutes with the help of the abschlepdienst truck. Don't sound like the car they used was too reliable.

This is not in any way reffering to the reliability of the factory approved engine supplier

This was just coolant loss caused by the fanbelt getting a stone trapped in it and taking the belt off with it, as posted on the Ultima forum. Back up running afterwards no damage done.

did the car not break down on one of its practice laps??
Not exactly. A stone flicked up into the crank pulley and de-railed the belt (which drives the alternator and water pump). Took 5 mins to put it back on.

Errr... why? The belt drives the alternator and water pump. If the belt comes off, you have nothing to drive coolant round the engine, so it boils up. Then blows itself out of the expansion tank.
