Pork you said:
21k?

I'll import something Japanese that's faster and better.
Like what??

Not with the same quality, economy, residuals, warranty, aftersales you wont.

21k is bang on for this car, this is a quality product not made from a whales foreskin like your jap crap with paint so thin you can see through it.

I have a Cooper S, which is a great car! The JCW can only be better. I wouldn't pay 21K for it though. Maybe wait till I can get one second hand thumbup

Haha people spend 21K on a mini!!!! thats GBP not USD. Crazy fools, thats like investing 21K in the housing market or shares in EMC at the moment.

Using +45 bhp as a selling point is a bit of a misnomer though - lots of peeps who have had the Standard (Turbo) MCS's rolling roaded are already breaching the 200bhp mark.

Have they put proper steering on them yet?
Still electro-hydraulic.

Dunno if they've got rid of the 'drill motor' though.

I liked the Mini an awful lot. But don't be silly. Get the Mazda 3 MPS instead. I know, it doesn't have the right the three letters (JCW), But you won't be paying for the other three letters (BMW), at time of purchase OR when it comes to service. 19K for the GT. This little thing goes like a rocket. I have the Mazda 6 version, the US spec Mazdaspeed 6 from 2007. The DISI motor is fantastic, one of the best on the market. Check the specs from the factory. It is truly bang for the buck.

Just so it's clear, you get the following "extras" when you buy the JCW over the MCS

18" lightweight challenge wheels
4 pot brakes
JCW bodykit
revised cylinder head
new pistons
new intake system
boost upped from 0.9 to 1.3 bar
new exhaust system (turbo back)
electronic differential

When you tot all those up, the prices is about right. They haven't just remapped it to extract the power, they've strengthened the internals, so much safer - and also perfect for more safe tuning.

Yes people "see" ~200bhp on their standard S's, but who's to say you wont "see" ~230bhp with the JCW?

Id love to own a Mini (dont care about the image - i loved driving one when I tested it) but for me theyre just too expensive. Fully specced MX5 sport Vs Mini Cooper in silver or red (the most undesirable colours) and theyre pretty neck & neck on cost with the Mini being slighly dearer in most places. Cheapest ones are still about 6 grand.

Funny to stummble across this write up today as the wife and I spec'd one up yesterday, Megane 225 Sport with cup pack is 3 years old so that going and JCW is on its way. I think its a solid little car and happy with the pricing.

Also, the fact you get 5 years servicing for only ~£130 quid up front, is simply amazing.

If you want one, and are willing to buy one, then it's not expensive.

I couldn't help but laugh at the people comparing it to an import Honda Civic... You know you could buy an old Skyline R32 GTR and loads of mods instead of the Mini! <shakes head>

It wouldn't be my choice though I don't think (although I can't say for sure as I have only driven the normal S), I drove the Cooper S back to back with a few of it's peers and chose my Clio 197 F1 as I preferred the drive.

Mini is a great car though, often under-rated because of its image - but I suppose when you got the jump on some haters Civic 'off the lights' it'd be all the more fun heh!

Ah a fellow 197 owner! cool

For what it's worth, I didn't even test drive the Mini because I'm not interested. It's just not for me.

By the time you add a few options you are almost at Focus RS money which would blast the mini into the weeds.
