By the time you add a few options you are almost at Focus RS money which would blast the mini into the weeds.
Its weird though because it doesnt matter about that..

Most people I see who want to buy a mini, only want to buy a mini they dont care about other cars all they want is the mini.

Its in its own little world and doesnt have the same competition issues as audi and vw ect.

Yeah but its no GP is it.

Failed to mention in review it comes with larger 4-pot brakes and larger rear discs as standard.
Damn straight, that R53MN MINI GP is an all time favourite car of mine. Just such a brilliant car to drive with the noise, handling & chirping the tyres up the gears.

Just so it's clear, you get the following "extras" when you buy the JCW over the MCS

18" lightweight challenge wheels
The wheels are 17"

Can anyone understand the part that reads:
"There’s no doubt that the systems would work well keeping someone who’s idea of having fun in their JCW is taking their friends for lunch on the King’s Road out of a ditch, but for the rest of us they are simply frustrating."

Or is it simply bks?

What about the Leon Cupra. £2K less - properly practical, nearly 250bhp with a high spec as standard....

Nice car, but way too expensive - as others have said, new JDM CTR is the one I'd go for...

Having driven the JCW for around a 1000 miles before its release to the public i can safely say that the positive feedback that this car has received is more than justified. The price to many no doubt seems steep but what price i say can u put on BMW engineering and the ear to ear smile it puts on your face the second you turn the key.

No was is any Mini worth 21K+. BMW quality was a selling point 5 years ago, but they have slipped & the opposition have improved. Get a Colt CZT for half the price. Far better looking & more practical too!

Missing the point again..

People who go to mini dealerships mate, dont want a fking colt. They want a mini. Its a strange concept but its actually the case, very rare from what I have seen for a customer to purchase a different car all together after they come in for a mini..

I don't know how bmw have done it, but they have created a brand which surpasses value, and rational thought in the public.

What i would say to your post is if you have not driven the latest JCW and get the chance do so as you might change your point of view on its price.

Id love to own a Mini (dont care about the image - i loved driving one when I tested it) but for me theyre just too expensive. Fully specced MX5 sport Vs Mini Cooper in silver or red (the most undesirable colours) and theyre pretty neck & neck on cost with the Mini being slighly dearer in most places. Cheapest ones are still about 6 grand.
which one will get you more ar$e but?

Referring to the classless appeal of the MINI, I think the original had the same sort of appeal nearly 50 years ago. BMW merely bought the rights.

Strange thing is that the new mini appeals to a huge demographic from mothers on the school run to petrolheads alike!

I had the R53 JCW and it was an awesome little machine biggrin Only changed it as I always pined after a mustang !

I am sure the R56 one will be much better. May have to go test drive one!

Mate owns a GP and wouldnt part with it for the world.

There is just something about Mini's that appeal!

Why do people reel out the Girls car comment? Insecurity is a funny thing. They drive better than most cars in their sector and a lot out of their sector too. I'd have one. Then again I love the JDM CTR too and would probably have one of those if I had the money, but image is never a consideration for me!

I thought about a focus also...but..

- Read about it being very nose heavy.
- Guzzles fuel. My MCS does 30mpg+ in short runs...and managed to get 50mpg when I really tried (was very boring though).
- Plus road tax on foucs is silly...on my MCS it is £145 a year and would have been cheaper if I had got one with start / stop gizmo's.

My mini worth £21k...who knows but I still love it. Would I spend extra to get the Factory JCW ???....probably not, more power than mine and I'd want it going through the rear wheels.

Errr.... standard S, add remap, intake bits and better brakes and save a few grand. This JCW just exacerbates what so many people think about Minis - i.e. that people only buy them for the badge!

P.S. after remapping the standard S you could probably buy a JCW badge if you were that bothered.

There is a bit more to it than a remap matey smile

And people dont just buy them for the bagde, and people that do will be lucky, as they unknoingly are driving the best car of its size for all round package.

Yes... if you get the "lesser" version you can have a proper LSD hehe

I'd also take the FD2 CTR over this for the money. Fair enough someone who wants a Mini definitely aint gonna want one of those, but I personally feel the Honda would be a better drive, and I'd personally feel more comfortable being seen in it, but then I'm not keen on minis, particularly this latest variant which looks uglier and cheaper built to me than the old one.

I dont see why comparing the FD2 to this is so bad though? They are both new, both FWD and both fast, so why not? Hardly the same as comparing it to a 10 year old Skyline is it?
