Apologies if I'm rocking the boat here, but I don't like the look of it.
No apologies needed mate, I think it looks horrible too! I remember my dad having one back in '84 (admittedly not a turbo though! He had a 2002ti) and I never liked it then either.

To those who disagree with our opinions, I say fair enough. But I still think they're poo.

Love the 2002, heres a Turbo I photo'd in Munich a couple of years back

Heres my own just as fast but cheaper take on the 2002 by Mitsi more than 10 years later, mine has been compared to a Skoda, Lada etc. Sadly even though it has the mirror writing "2000 TURBO" on the spoiler nobody makes reference to the BMW.

I just love the way the styling can actually make 13inch wheels look big enough on the car - Why do modern cars have such massive wheels now?
Because apparantly it's fashionable, and I'm afraid fashion and style are NOT the same thing. Witness the current trend for stupid pointy shoes that are 5 inches longer than they need to be. They don't look good they make you look like a clown.

There's a Chrysler garage up the road and the crossfire looks ridiculous frankly with stupid great wheels, it looks like something a 4 year old drew.

Badly.

That BMW looks fabulous but of course there's a reason they can't make cars like that anymore. Health and ttting Safety.

I have to agree. In my opinion 15 inch wheels were the best. Mk2 Golf GTI on BBSs and original Sierra Cossie. Looked perfect, as does the '02 turbo...

I worked for BMW in the Chiswick and later Brentford HQs in 1974/5 and had several 2002s as company cars - we did five or six thousand miles in them and then they went off to be sold as low mileage used. I only drove a Turbo on a couple of occasions since even then they were a rarity, being LHD and, if memory serves, not in the UK's official range. However I do remember filling one up in a petrol station and then, just as a crowd inevitably gathered, getting back in the front passenger seat by mistake - I had to pretend to be looking for something in the glovebox.
