Ok,

Just out of interest, I keep reading:

"It's not as good as a 335d"

"But can it keep up with a 335d?"

"The benchmark for all cars, is a 335d".

Have I missed something in the last few weeks?

It's just one of those cult things like "Dave" from the bunker thread. It'll go away in a week or so, they always do.

Point the finger of blame at Carlos. He has one, and is such a devoted fanboy of it, he makes the Pope look 'a bit religious'.

I think the guy is dbx335d, he's always comparing his mapped 335d to various things like a Murcie Roadster or a Porsche, saying that it would slaughter them both hehe

Which of course it would.

Grab a test drive, and you'll be hugely impressed. Haven't tried a remapped one, but they must really shift.

A case of a very good car being rumoured to be a "Ferrari slayer" by a few over enthusiastic owners. This has then been picked up by others to quote whenever anyone comments on the performance of a car ... "Yes, but it's not as quick as my 335d!"

Whether the comments will stick around as long as the standard MX-5 remains to be seen

I hear that in the next Batman film, Batman is going to ditch his current drive for a 335d.

Keep that under your hat though

Tom Selleck is also rumoured to be making a comeback with a new series of Magnum P.I.

He is going to be seen hurtling around Hawaii in a 335d.

I think the difference is MX-5 owners only think their car is the best car they could afford to buy and run. Not that it's better than almost anything else.

The only question left is are we laughing at him, or with him.

I rather think it's the first.

Maybe we should write to JC @ Top Gear and let him know the good news.

We have a new winner of the "COOL WALL" smile

The problem is captain dick head keeps popping up with the same old garbage about his car (like the "review" of the TTS the other day and starting it all over again, however sometimes the references in other threads to it are hilarious.
