Nowadays, do people really believe all that 'mythical, magical' guff written in the first couple of paragraphs?
It's just a car.
Are you blind or just stupid?!?!?! Just a car??! A Clio is just a car, a Focus is just a car, An Astra is just a car....... A Ferrari F430 is slightly more than 'just a car' methinks!! Plank! You joined PH why?!?It's just a car.
"I take my foot off the accelerator and glance down at the speedo, but the figures don’t add up – was I really going that fast? I better be careful, not only is this car incredibly quick it is deceiving."
Surely it's better to feel like you're going faster than you actually are, rather than the other way round!?
I guess that's one of the problems with modern cars.

fantastic review there, very much enjoyed that!
they are awesome machines no question, i experienced one a year or so ago (as a passenger) on some good roads and the noise on full song and the poise of the car is unbelievable, an experience that will stay with me for a good while yet!
dream car material most definetely

The Ferrari is a dream. And for most people it will remain a dream apart from for those lucky few. Staring at the screen, there is a montage of Ferraris, road and racing, young and old. It is enshrined in something mystical, religious even, a world that only a few will get to experience.
That is a huge amount of bosewellox. It's a car. Quickish, granted, but a car of which there are better alternatives. The quote above is precisely why they sell a gazzillion t-shirts and baseball hats to gullible people who want to be taken in by all the misty eyed, soft focus claptrap.

i dont get the tunnel thing. i come off this junc a lot and head to staines but the only tunnel i know is where you go around a giant roundabout underneath the M25 towards bedfont ??????? help me please its doing my head in!!
Shirley he means the one by the roundabout at the end of the Egham bypass (that runs past Maranello's).SS7
Absolutely brilliant machine , in fact in black it suits those lines.
I secretly prefer the 360 styling as the 430 looks a little more brutal , but i would still love to own one .
I dont understand GKP s comments really as this is a petrolheaven site and comments like his are best left to the cycling forums.

Brilliant!
But the internal dilema of a F430 or Gallardo in the dream garage rages on...
[the Ferrari has it today after reading that!]
I tested a 430 and Gallardo back to back last weekend -- I really did not enjoy the ferrari - felt a little embarrassed driving round in it and absolutely did not like the sound at all -- when the valve opens you want to hide from passers by... The gallardo on the other hand... completely different experience - absolutely loved it - felt more sure footed, better built and even felt faster - above all it sounded 10x better. I understand one is either a gallardo fan or 430 fan but not both... But the internal dilema of a F430 or Gallardo in the dream garage rages on...

I've been called blind, stupid, a plank, a cyclist and shouldn't be on PH simply because I don't buy into the whole 'Ferrari' thing.
Bear in mind that Henry Ford, Colin Chapman, Ferdinand Porsche, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ettore Bugatti and many others weren't too keen on the Dancing Donkey either. Were they all stupid planks that should be banished to the cycling forums?
Take the blinkers off. Ferrari are a very successful money making enterprise that trade on nothing more than people's willingness to believe. At the prices that Ferrari charge their customers I would expect the vehicle to be good at it's job and it's only in recent years that the car has lived up to it's reputation. But they are not for me.
I'm not keen on Ferraris and statements such as 'lucky few, mystical and religious' bring up a modicum of bile when I read them. If you're fawning over the car simply because of the badge on the front, then you're nothing more than a marketing man's wet dream.

It's just a car.
Seems a strange quote for this site - Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini etc are all marques that many, many people aspire to but will never own. They'e really not 'just a car' in a very real sense either and if you think that you're kidding yourself. we live in a world where status symbols in all their many guises can open doors....And a few other things! It's just a car.
The creative journalism in this case could also be applied to the premises of many top marques, some I've listed above. It's also clearly a little bit of fun and atmosphere setting, I suspect the journalist had a massive smile on his face at the time and truly was a little over-awed, why shouldn't they be?
And if it really is 'just car' a to you, then please provide us with a definition of what that means? Please really do, what is a car to you, because that's the biggest piece of broadstroke crap I've heard on this board!
