Nice work, that looks like a nice place to work on your cars, tidy but not so that it's a 'showroom' rather than a garage! Must confess I'm jealous of you having all that space to play with, I'm stuck with a normal double... 2stis said:

I plan to build something like that mezzanine in my new 'shop, to store stuff, and I like the idea of having the spotlights underneath. There will eventually be a large, heavy workbench right where the cement sacks are now. 
I'd rest the deck on the bathroom at one end, making a convenient ceiling for that, and put a steel frame at the other end for support, and make it about 8 feet wide, so the floor could be sheets of plywood. My roof is also angled, so headroom will not be too generous towards the one end.
Still got lots of work to do on her house though, before I can focus fully on my workshop.

I thought the garage looked quite homely in spite of the white making it a bit sterile. White is great for seeing stuff though - not just marks but it lightens up the whole room - my ceilings and walls will be white. One day lol!

How wide is that garage out of interest? Been looking at moving houses recently and most seem to have garages about 2.6m wide, trying to picture a car in it is proving difficult as most seem to have been converted to rooms of some sort.At the moment, I have just enough space to work on my car:

It is 2.5 metres wide, 2.24 at the narrowest point (door) and 5 metres long. Lots of info and photos in this thread if you are interested. Here are a few more pics to give you an idea on size:

Good eyes!Cheers for that JFReturns. Looks like they could still be a usable size then. Mine is currently 3m wide which allows room both sides of the Z4. Will just have to park to one side rather than dead central. The majority of the houses we have seen so far have had the garages partitioned to make an extra room which is irritating but not the end of the world.

I did buy some light grey tiles too, but the manufacturer advised against using these where cars would be parked as the black colouring from the tyres would be drawn out and get absorbed into the tile - some sort of chemical reaction. I went for the blue tiles as they said it would not occur but it still has, but due to the colour it is probably a lot less noticeable than it would have been with lighter coloured tiles.2stis said:

Yes, they are plastic tiles from ecotile. I do a fair bit of work lying on the floor underneath the cars so it feels a bit less hard and cold than some surface coverings. Also I have dropped the odd part or tool that I'm sure would have itself been damaged or chipped a porcelain floor where with the plastic tiles it has just bounced off unharmed. It is pretty easy to mop clean every now and then too, with no traces of any of my oil spills/coolant leaks afterwards. The only downside is the odd tyre imprint. I've not worked out exactly why yet as it seems a bit random - sometimes the car sits there for months and leaves nothing and other times it could be there a short space of time and leave a mark. It could be heat-related perhaps, so maybe after a blast if I put the car in there straight away that could enable the 'carbon black' to transfer?
I have the same problems with ecotile. You get some dr schultz protective liquid which seems to do a good job of protecting it. Looks like a dirty yellow tyre print. Scrubbed with all sorts of cleaners and got rid of most of it, but not perfect. Still rate the tiles though, just it was too cold to put the schultz stuff down straight away.
