I decided to change the furniture over the weekend just gone... didn't fit all too great though!

The damn thing was so big it was nearly blocking the TV, so I had to drive it back to the place I'd been and picked it up. 100 miles away! Shame!
Can I come and see it please!? Lol.
My mates dad has an XJ220 next to his F40.
A rarity in North of England.

laugh That sounds more like it actually is! Its got patio doors where I'm stood for that pic so its actually great to watch TV in there in the summer and almost still be outside but my pride and joy to look at too! Generally though its just when watching Top Gear that I'm booted out to the garage as there's usually some crappy period drama on the other side that the wife wants to watch.

It was a bit cramped in there with thr 220. Top tip is to watch Top Gear with a Ferrari. Much shorted!

Sorry but sadly I had to give the XJ220 back to Don Law Racing. I'd just borrowed it for the weekend to do a review on for a website/magazine and then to take to that big supercardriver event. I miss it so much though.

Well, I dont miss taking it in and out of the garage....

Getting my dads E Type in his single garage was always fun.

Must have been a tiny garage? I thought they were quite small compared to modern standards?

Well it was a semi detached, but as we have always had so many cars, Dad extended the garage behind with a car port (and a Carcoon behind that!). E Type lived in the Carcoon, which meant it had to get through the garage, with all the DIY mechanic related bits and bobs, through the removable wooden panel which he replaced some bricks, through the crowded car port to get it onto the base of the Carcoon!

Things we do for cars.

Folks, slight detour but my arcitect came back with plans for my new house and integrated double garage. The plans have the garage (just for cars mind!) at 6.28m wide and 6.5m deep - how much space do I need for two cars? My Mercedes SEC is 4.91m long........

IIRC the minimum for a double garage is something like 5m x 5m so it sounds good. However there won't be much room either end of the SEC. As a general rule the bigger the better.

The only other thing, make sure you have a single wide door rather than two singles. That way you can get a car in the centre if you need more space around it.

20' x 21' not bad. I would say that's a decent width but perhaps could do with another couple of feet in length if there's room to give you space to work at the back of the garage.

If you want to lose an afternoon check out the gallery on Garage Journal, before you know it you'll be planning a 6000 sq ft hanger.. :-)

That said, if you want inspiration for a two-car garage take a look at the 12 gauge garage.

Storage is to the side of the garage and there is a separate lock up around the corner........architect as tucked a window in a corner of the hall to view the classic.........
