Perfect builder trousers, that's how they are tailored.

We used to have a lovely garage at the old place, complete with glass folding doors to make it look like a showroom. But then we moved... <sniff>

Great pair of cars and love the glass idea though no good for security if the garage is visable from the road.

Thanks. Thankfully the garage wasn't visible from the road, but for extra discretion, I had black curtains behind the glass (made of theatre curtain material!) so not every visitor saw what was in there. Probably still not going to win any practicality prizes, but did look fab.

This hasn't received the appreciation it deserves! Amongst the clinical squares of white this is just the epitome of what a proper garage should be. Everything has its place so long as your its owner!

If you read back a couple of pages Bobbo, you'll see that it has picked up a lot of positive comments, I agree it's the best one on here so far.

Thanks - and yes, if he didn't have his arse hanging out I would worry that he wasn't properly qualified to do the job

Loving the garages - some serious attention to detail there, from ol and others.

Have a question for my own garage:

I've painted the floor white (look, I like it, ok?) and so to avoid tiremarks and lifting, I've bought 2 lengths of black rubber matting to drive onto, the sort about 1m wide with a pattern of raised dimples the size of a 10p.

But there's a problem: they stink of fresh (slightly burnt) rubber. I'm no stranger to the occasional smell of burnt rubber wink but my preference for the garage would be more along the lines of a gentle whiff of warm oil and old leather. I thought the smell would go, but after 3 months, the mats still honk.

So before I get something different for the other garage (which then won't match), can anyone tell me if this is normal with this sort of rubber matting, or have I just bought some particularly smelly stuff? Thanks.

You can always trust PH for expert advice... I guess that is one solution, just not quite what I had in mind.

You could try leaving the mats outside to 'air' for a while.

The life of the 'paint' will depend on what you used.
Acylic will need repainting regularly
Epoxy resin should last a long time if the floor was prepared properly before application.
The resin is much more expensive and usually thicker. It should not lift on hot tyres (F1 use it)

That looks a lot like my old 355.
Don't suppose it's a 1995 2.7M?

Yes indeed - it is a '95 2.7! What makes you think you recognise it? Don't all Rosso/Nero Spiders look the same?

It's got the head unit I had installed along with the C-Tek adaptor in the passenger footwell. It also looks like it's got a mark in the left hand side of the roof where the material has worn slightly and finally it's also still got the sticker on the windscreen from Ferrari Racing Days world record attempt!

Not up there with most the garages on this thread, but for a new build house on an estate I'm quite happy with my garage. As normally people think you can't even put a car in one (have had my e class mercedes in there and call fully open the doors both sides.

Not fancy, but enough space for some bikes, homemade workbench on the left, with tools, beer fridge & sound system built in. Shelving on the opposite side and my new 2002. Cold beer, tunes and classic cars. It's a very happy place to be! In fact I'm going there now!
