ah, no grease, no spanners no tools and the vice looks like it's never been used
You've made countless posts on tthis thread commenting on every garage that looks too showroomy for your taste - always something along the lines of the above. We get it, you think a garage should be dirty and full of tools. jke11y said:

Yeah, I know what he means, very nice, fantastic but looks like one from Forza Horizon or Test Drive Unlimited, But, not everyone spanners and just wants somewhere nice to keep their P and J(s) I get that as well.
I get all of them and each to their own. If I had the acreage I'd have a nice tidy oak framed motorhome with a clean floor for just keeping 3 or 4 of my cars in and then a double workshop with lift for working on others. I wouldn't have guitars in the garage, because I play the piano not the guitar, and because I wouldn't want to sit in a garage playing music. I do have decent speakers in mine because I like to listen to Steely Dan while I'm tinkering. Above all what I don't get is that I thought Pistonheads was a place to chat, didn't realise some people were so easily irritated. I'll shut up and ...

Been building mine for the last year or so and last weekend I actually parked my car in it for the first time:
A little before and after:
And from up on the mezzanine:
2 post ramp is being delivered in the next couple of weeks. That really will be the icing on the cake.
Another wonderful space.A little before and after:

And one of those stainless steel mobile benches ... gorgeous.
I'm guessing from those pics you maybe had to dig down to get the height (so the roofline wasn't taller)?
Does the house have the same exterior look or is it mostly glass? Interested to see!
I know it won't be a two-bed semi

I like the finish on the structure, is it some kind of cladding? Also is that security posts either side of the doors?
Its called rockpanel. Made of crushed Basalt rock and glue. You work it just like wood though, but it requires no upkeep once installed.Rock Panel
Not security posts, flood barriers. Had a minor catastrophe back in January that I am eager to avoid happening again.

Its a 3 bed semi. Very much a work in progress.
And yes, dug down to get the height for planning. Just a minor 500 and something tonnes of earth out the ground!!

I have the same weights bench! But I think used for its original purpose...
Before converting the bog standard garage it had two crappy metal doors with a central pillar and didn't have the part on the left. Basically it cost a ridiculous amount to do that, but heh, you only live once... There's also now a pool table on to the left of the car and in front of the gym - fitted in quite nicely. I also appreciate having two white cars is a bit 'Essex' - merely coincidental and chance rather than by design, but there are harder cars to live with so its quite easy to put up with it! I thumbed through this thread on the forum quite extensively before doing what I did. Ideally I'd have something twice the size (at least), but then I guess we'd all like a bigger garage / man-cave / ...place of sanctuary away from the family!

Actually it is indeed full of tools and grease - they just all get packed away once I've completed the job. I learned my trade as a ships engineer and on the rolling seas you learn not to leave precious tools lying about. Anyway, glad you think it looks in showroom condition, here's a shot with a little more going on. Cheers.
What's your ceiling height? I'm building similar at the moment and I have 3.0m so I can keep a mezanine floor up the top.subzero said:

Sorry - couldn't resist. All in good fun The weights bench was the perfect height to rest the front bumper on while I faffed around with alignment shims. I keep a wet sponge in there to dab under my arms just before re-entering the house espousing the benefits of a good workout!Love the use of the weights bench there.

I have 3.15m from tile to ceiling where the lift stands. You will probably get two cars in there with 3m but it will be tight. Also consider how much headroom you want under the car when lifted to work in. I'm 6'4 and mine works for me.thecook101 said:

So much time for this response! Great to see the car being worked on, love the setup to!
