Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?
Discussion
Zadkiel, it's a beautiful collection, but i'm interested in the building itself, was it built for display/garaging purposes or is it an existing building re-purposed. Some details would be lovely.
An external picture would be great, but i understand that there may be a security issue if it would give a clue as to location.

I'll post up some pics of mine once it's finished but i'm still in the middle of getting the work done (courtesy of another PHer). Struggling to choose the floor tiles at the mo! it's gonna be one of these. Likely i'll be going for darker walls teal colour walls, and white ceiling, and have more than enough lighting. Any thoughts?
It was originally custom built as a classic car museum with some office space at the top. We bought it and converted the top floor into an apartment where I live and squeezed a smaller office in on the middle floor. Then slowly started filling it will cars that are used! From the outside it just looks like a large rectangular commercial building, pretty plain, which is the intention. The front ground level was original an old petrol station so you can still see a bit of that layout and it has some old cast iron BP badges in the ground.
MrChips, I like the 3rd from the right tile on the bottom left, but I am a fan of nice greys so I am biased.

Grey rather than brown I reckon - keep things neutral. Third form the right closest to you ...uk66fastback said:

Very cool. I've always fancied living on top of a giant garage MrChips said:

What about Dekton/Lapitec Slabs? 3.2m x 1.5m sheets. So fewer sheets needed and less grout lines.Zadkiel said:

If the garage is going to be used to work on vehicles then go almost white floor. It makes a massive difference to the amount of light when you need to work under a car. You can have masses of lights above a dark floor and still be unable to see anything in a shadow.Tony Starks said:

Damn you! Just tonight i'd decided on the bottom right one (having chucked a lot of brake dust/grease on and checked it cleans up easily). I'd not heard of it before but that Lapitec stuff looks great but can't help thinking it's likely to be £££!! Some research needed

20mm Dekton is about NZ$200-$400 a m2, but I don't know the costs of the thinner stuff. Aswell as Dekton and Lapitec, theres Laminam, Neolith and Techlam.I'd not heard of it before but that Lapitec stuff looks great but can't help thinking it's likely to be £££!! Some research needed
