That looks great MrC. Got any more details on the lights? Could always do with more light ...
Agreed on the porcelain tiles. I've just redone my bathroom with some and they are incredibly difficult to crack - if not impossible,
Lights are ZEP1 and LED Panels from E36Guy on here. I'm really glad we spent the time getting these right. The combination of panels and spots really helps fill the room.Agreed on the porcelain tiles. I've just redone my bathroom with some and they are incredibly difficult to crack - if not impossible,
Having looked at some of the garages on this thread, I thought I'd post some pictures of my humble man cave. I had it rebuilt a couple of years ago and these photos were taken a few months ago just after I relaid the floor. The space on the left is normally filled by the wife's SLK - the price of gaining permission to do the rebuild...
My car doesn't fit anyway but I'd rather have used the whole space for the bikes. Such is life.

Do you find the tiles slippery when wet?My car doesn't fit anyway but I'd rather have used the whole space for the bikes. Such is life.

I have pondered doing something with my garage floor but was concerned about moving or riding my bikes on a tiled floor when wet.

I don't think that floor is smooth so I think you'd be okay ... how fast are you going in your garage anyway?
I had horrific visions of riding into the garage, touching the front brake and having the front end slip just enough to unbalance me.Or putting my foot down, only to have it slip out and drop the bike

Thanks. I do use it for the car daily, but I can see that some old carpet may block some of the air. And I get the idea of the squashable D-shaped tube type idea - I guess that might be quite DIY-able to get some improvement along the edge of the door, if I can find some suitable squashable material
Something like this would do the job nicely...http://www.weatherstop.co.uk/floor-threshold-seals...

I bought and meticulously fitted their metal version but still get a bit of water creeping in - i think i need to lift it and put some sealant between the concrete and the metal profile. Made a big improvement, as I have a 200mm flat part beyond the door where water collects.Bebee said:
Looks nice, but it's too dark IMO. Decent "Work" garage has to be bright and airy. Think McLaren Or even more muted. This is Ascot
Rule #1 in any garage. If yu drop that washer or screw. You need to be able to see it. And white is better than dark colours for this!

Not quite sure what makes this the best detailing garage? Just looks like a typical American / Canadian garage with some over priced drawers and cabinets.
I suspect if you want to detail a car then light 'bounced' off a white ceiling, walls and floor is best.
If you look at that TVR there are multiple light spots on the body.
I have found a light coloured floor helps when working under a car.
My workshop has white ceiling, walls and light grey (almost white floor)and the lights are metal halide for a white light.
Dark or strong colours are for the 'show' garage. If you want to do some work, keep it light and bright!
