Thanks. It's got a man cave on the back as well. Somewhere to play driving sims without interruption from the wife. biggrin

I had this built 18 months ago. Built to full living specifications, heated and kitchen area with en-suite. Vaulted ceiling to allow for lift ramp height. 35 feet long, 14 feet wide and max height of 13 feet. PLENTY. LOL

Cheers.

The light is there now. The picture is a bit out of date.

Having rented out our plac for seven years, and waved goodbye to the garage I spent two years building, we have now returned to the fold and I am in the process of clearing out and sorting out said garage once again.

The last photo I took in March 2010, before it was handed over to another motor-head, who used to its full potential :

Some flashbacks to 2006/7:

The bit you can see on the left of the picture is a single storey side extension containing a utility room, shower room and toilet. There a single storey extension on the other side with an office in it. Lastly a two storey extension on the back to make the kitchen and one of the bedrooms bigger.

No build thread I'm afraid and I don't want to drag this thread any further off topic, so won't post pictures here. Ill see if I can find some more of the garage though.

Is that the actual one from the show? Would be interesting to hear how you got it!
It is the actual one from the show. Discovery commissioned a series of these paintings, covering the E Type, a helicopter and a chopper. There may have been more. When the series finished and the set/garage was retired from being a TV set the paintings were going to be skipped. A friend retrieved the E Type one and had it mounted in his office where it stayed for a number of years. I have a passion for E Type and used to tell him it was really made for me and should be in my garage, eventually he agreed and at Christmas I brought it home. The pic's don't show scale its about 8 foot x 6 foot. I fitted a length of timber to the base to support it and used all the original holes to secure it to the marine ply lined wall of my garage.[url]
It has an upstairs which is used for parts storage with a mezzanine bit where the two poster is.
Below are some pics of the inside with various project cars I have built over the years

I think we need to start a support group for those of us with serious "garage envy" . Just keep them coming we need our fix daily.

I have an "interesting" garage, albeit not amazing. I just bought a house with a bit of history.

House is half early 1600s and half 1700s, but it came with a nice garage/workshop (33 feet in length), built in the '60s. Turns out the house was owned by a guy called John Godfrey. He restored a few cars in the garage, including some rare race Ferraris, as well as writing a book. The garage has a 3 phase supply and some other quirky bits. Excuse my new shed (Passat PD 130 in the shed thread!) and my 525i and L322 (in readers' cars). Garage has an ugly part pitched roof and the pics were taken for other reasons, so excuse them not being particularly focused on what we are talking about. Pics attached:

Super cheap L322 shot

Photograph I found on the top (currently unused) floor. This was a dark room, and still has the red light he used. I'm assuming this is a Ferrari V12 in the garage and the photograph was developed in the house.

Book

196 SP he owned and restored

Links to 196 SP and 290MM he owned.

I found some bit a pieces in the garage. Some old Shell oil, some very old driving goggles, what look like Ferrari Magneti Marelli ignition coils and other little bits.

Sadly its not a real Lightweight, just a copy albeit based on a 1965 E Type, with steel shell and aluminium bonnet, doors, hardtop and bootlid. At the risk of hijacking the thread just a couple of pictures of it below:

I will enquire about the helicopter picture.

We have just finished a major revamp of our garage.

Once it was finally empty. (It is amazing how much clutter you accumulate in just a few years).

The ceiling was plaster boarded, skimmed and painted, the walls painted and the floor tiled with porcelain tiles with an upstand.

We decided not to repaint the vice, it belonged to my late grandfather and it just looks better with 50 years of usage and associated scuff marks on it.

Given I want to use the garage to look after a couple of cars, we also put an 8x16ft shed on the side for additional storage.

Final job is to re-gravel the driveway. Inevitably the gravel has just shifted away over time, makes getting the car in and out of the garage a real pain at the moment.

Very nice...!
As soon as we bought our last house I immediately implemented an 'no none car stuff' rule and my wife never went anywhere near it smile
Built her a shed to keep her out the way. Garage is my zone. Literally, apart from 1/4 of our bedroom, the only other part of the house that was mine was the garage!
