That's not a garage, that's an operating theatre.

i've read a lot of jack's garage threads and, as seems to be a common theme, i bloody love it. love the layout, love the cabinets, love the colour, love that it was self built, absolutely head over heels with the car.

+1 Perfect
Thanks very much, guys. It took a lot of time and effort to put it all together, but now it's a really relaxing place to work on stuff. The latest addition is a second-hand tubing bender, which I'm hoping to clean up and use to extend my track car's cage to the front and rear suspension points in order to increase the car's overall rigidity.
And again, if you're interested in a bench-by-bench tour of the garage, just click on the 'tour' link at http://www.12gaugegarage.com.

Very nice. When did they do that? I flew past at some speed on my bike earlier after a cross-country ride back from Fernhurst around 1.45pm, I think there was a door on the opening by the stairs, but I was more focussed on scanning the road ahead after only just managing to avoid the huge pothole by the 30-sign, and just keeping myself on the bike when the front wheel slipped on the loose stones..!

They started at 8:30 and were done by about 3pm!Some quality tarmac in the lane, some council funded s filled some holes the other day - even go as far as tarmacking over mud. Genius.
A while back I said I’d bought some new green floor tiles to re-vamp my garage and that I would post up some pictures. Well I’ve finally finished the tidy-up so here’s some before and after pics. Hope you like them.
The Aston was away with the specialist who looks after it during April so I decided to re-decorate the garage. You know; get rid of 20 years of rubbish to the tip – mostly “stuff that’ll come in handy”, tidy away all the tools, clear the shelves and re-stack all the oils and polishes etc. It’s amazing how many pots of paint I’d collected over the years. Anyway I found some white emulsion and an unopened tin of Wick’s grey floor paint so I got cracking!
Strangely the house builder gave me an Artexed ceiling but left gaps all round the edges because the walls were not plastered. I filled these and all the other gaps with expanding foam filler then painted the walls and ceiling. I found the green carpet tiles on eBay so that was £25 spent on the new floor for the workshop area. I fancy painting a racing green band around the walls at waist height when I’ve finished for a neat look.
The garage doors were a dull dirty dark grey on the inside so needed painting. Homebase had a buy-one-get-one-free offer on what they called one-coat universal paint so I bought some in light grey which I applied with a small brush to get behind the door frame and in tricky areas and a mini roller for the flat surfaces. I’m really pleased with the result.
Halfway there and hopefully if I get a good run at it tomorrow I’ll get close to finishing, then the fun bit putting up some new posters and sorting out all my tools!
The mess to start with
Stuff off the shelves and rubbish ready to go
Volvo being loaded – one trip of several
Green carpet tiles down
One door painted, contrast the unpainted one
Floor painted
Spent a few more hours in the garage today and have now finished painting the inside of the other door, this really brightens it up. I’ve since discovered yet more gaps round the ceiling which I will have to fill. The reason I am so determined to plug and seal all the gaps is because, being near the river, our lounge is built above the garage. Consequently whenever I start a car or put one away you can smell exhaust fumes for quite a while in the lounge above. So, more expanding foam is required and I want to get some draft excluder on the garage doors to stop the dust coming in. Then that’s about it.
Final few pictures – this morning I filled the last few gaps and painted the green band. It looks bright but it’s the same colour as the Aston Martin Racing team flag, I like it so that’s the main thing and I think it gives it a nice professional looking finish. Now I’ve got to tidy all my tools and de-rust the old ones I want to keep.

have you tried globrix? I've wiled away many a pointless hour staring at houses I'll never be able to afford. That has a fairly nifty filtering option
If you do look though, hands off the one that's in Tilbrook for sale by Knight Frank. That's going to be mine and to be shared with the vast array of vehicles I will one day own. The only downside is that I am at least £2,850,000 short for the house, let alone the selection of Alfa Romeos and Maseratis one simply has to have. Ahem...
