Anyone got any advice on garage doors? What are the pros / cons of the up and over style vs the roller shutter type?
I would agree that the standard up and over doors are not the best at keeping the outside well outside. As you end up with a gap all the way round and as been said they take up room as they open. I have just moved house and started to tidy up the garage, but was over the moon to find the garage was fitted with a electric sectional door from these guys www.hormann.co.uk it is insulated and when closed is totally sealed, so well in fact that when I pressure washed the outside of the door no water got into the inside of the garage
I've been thinking I'll stick a photo up on here when my garage is done, but as I'm two years in and it isn't done yet thought I'd stick one up now. Firstly, this isn't the best by a country mile, but has been done on a shoestring budget. The big extravagence being having the walls and ceiling plastered.
It was a plain rectangular double when I started, but I stole a bit off the utility room to make the alcove for the sink at the back. Hardest job was laying the floor myself.
Strange bands in the pic because I used panoramic mode.

Nice! Expensive but worth it. Looked after it'll last forever. Bet you've got hydrostatic drive too. I've got a 6 speed non-synchro manual gearbox to wrestle with.
It is good, replaced an Iseki, not hydrostatic, it's a 900cc triple cylinder diesel pushing out the full 16hp, 3 speed gearbox and clutch, rear PTO, and switchable 2 or 4wd!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
