Not sure what I like more. The garage itself or the location.

Wanna see those mountains out of my window everyday.

Just an outside shot for now, as we have only been in the house for 5 weeks and I am currently decorating the garage. Yes, I know the Landy is leaning to one side!

The garage is devided into the main garage in line with the double door and there is a small workshop on the right hand side. There is also two small rooms on above the garage. I use the rooms to store the bucycles so they don't get dusty. I'm currently painting the walls and ceilings white in the workshop. Will make it a much more pleasent place to work. Its th first room that I'm decorating as I need a decent workshop, so I can get all my tools sorted for working in the house smile

Current project is refurbishing the towing equipment and wheels for the Land Rover.

I'm a big fan of this thread. Some amazing garages here. I desperatly wanted a decent garage. it was near the top of the list for priorites when we were house hunting.

About 20 years ago I had plans approved to extend our house at the time, which ibncluded something very similar to that, a big double (about 8M x 7M IIRC) garage, with a room below. At the time I was playing in a band so the main purpose of the room was a soundproof studio.

With this plus another extension the other side of the house plus extensive redesigning of the existing internals we eventually decided it would have been overcapitalising and moved instead frown

The new house only had a single carport so I extended that house with a 4 car garage with a work pit. Think I might have posted pix early in this thread? Ex wife now has all that of course...

Current house only has a biggish double but very old and drafty and seperate from the house frown

My planned hole wasn't as close to the house as that, but I had done a lot of planning for reinforcing whilst building... mind you Perth is basically built on a sand dune rofl

I'm just about to start building a garage / workshop so what are the views on lifts?

I'd thought of having a 2 post lift in the workshop, but do I need to fix its position now and put reinforced pads in or should a decen floor slab allow me to put it anywhere afterwards?

How expensive are sunken flush lifts?

Anything else I ought to consider??

I put lift pads on my plans and building control specified a double reinforced mesh concrete floor that's the strongest garage floor in the village now. In the end I left the pads out and will buy a portable scissor lift for the job.

If you want any lift though - plan for a slightly higher ceiling...

I have the height already considered and planned in!

Having looked a bit I'm thinking that a recessed scissor lift is the way forward.

This... http://www.dunlopge.co.uk/dsl3_high_rise_scissor_l...

When down it just sits flush without having the obstructions of the posts in a 2 post lift.

Since I'm working from scratch it's dead easy to put the recesses in the slab and seems like the best solution.

Thoughts??

They all do - it's the fuel tank I think.

Yer, my S111 did the same. We put it down to the fuel tank and everything associated with driving from that side.
Even with new springs ans a new chassis, it did the same.

The only think with that is you don't have room to store another car under it should you wish and working space I imagine is a bit restricted under it, could you drop a larger engine out underneath with that? Also on my VX there are only 2 lifting points on the cills, most are on the insides.
