Where were we?

After our 260-shoot we arrived at the Boekelo resort, parked the cars behind the gate - just enough spaces - and hit the bar.

We had a lovely dinner, learned about Jurassic Park bugs and I drank 3 VSOPs, Cloggy learned Johnny about genever so my nightcap became his ignored local bitter: cheers!

Bunch of fresh DSR chappies.

Arjen and Anca flying in, after a quick visit at dads.

Alex and Farah watching Brian checking the Ultimas suspension: "Will this kit be up for a Vmax at the Autobahn?"

Sophie caught us, me discussing last details about the post Autobahn meetup.

Testing the cam for some quick fly bys. Tighly strapped in 6-point harnass.

Next: I forgot the Sat-night diner snaps! Blimey . . . prepare for some flashback laughs.

Going back in time a few hours:

"Forget about the table Monica, just me will do."

Not sure this is about cars . . .

Interior was a bit 80s. The Italian buffet proved to be of the 'everything goes' kind. I was begged to stop after 3 plates.

Spot the loony wink

Sunday morning carpark antics.

Early Tuscan. This's why you need a pola-filter btw.

Random Cobra-parking.

Monica likes the Exige as well: "What a cute car!"

We didn't need it.

Erics 5pot ready for the Autobahn.

Next: more sunday morning carpark antics.

The 8:30ish team up at the closed carpark:

DSR posse taking it easy.

Getting packed.

The Cloggies had some family visits planned after the Run and filled the huge Chimboot with half their bedroom closet worth of goodies.

Obviously Klaas had enough of the early morning chitchat, started the RV8 and . . . .

. . . took off like he stole it.

I had my stuff in Alex white gorgeous. For those who really want to know: not as big as the Chims!

Unlike the C5s: a proper GT.
Eric can't make his mind up: Vette or Monaro as a replacement for the ST. I say: keep the Ford. What a ride!

Johnnies backpack hardly fitted in the Exige. Doesn't Lotus do a shaped-to-fit bag for the 260?

WTF are we waiting for?

Last details before lift off.

Next: starting engines.

V8 rumble.

Ready to roll.

Discussion about where to meet up after Vmax.

Appropriate Dutch shirt.

Tightly strapped in the 6-point harnass. It's hard to believe but chatting in front of a 6.3 litre is no problem.

Sophie had here ride saturday morning and Aram stepped in the Ultima after me.

"Daddy, daddy look!"

Next: Autobahn

Fortunately I'm not the only one a bit behind schedule wink

Autobahn in the mighty Ultima:

Big V8 provided for a constant huge grin. Although in the early morning just a polo proved warm enough.

The Ultima kit is not much of a car when inside: comfy seats and nuff legroom though.
The switch on the left of the steeringwheel is the indicator!

Tightly strapped in the windscreen saved my hair big time compared to when in a Cobra!
Not much freedom to move around . . .

Aha!

On our way to the Autobahn - 35 kms of dull concrete road - we thought we'd lost our DSR posse . . . Klaas and Johnny in our rearview here.

Alex' tasty white diesel flashing by.

Let's see: ready to shift up to 6th and hit our 165 Vmax. Trackday gearing.

Next: Vmaxing and losing Andy.

On with the show:

Andy was the first to pass and chased Joop!s 325i with an epic soundbyte.

We shifted back and catched up: some shove that 383!
A 140 was our average cruising speed. Not at redline, end of 5th me thinks?

Catching up with Johnny who saw: "flat-out-at-147mph (indicated 160mph)"

Hungry-for-speed traffic . . .

. . . and Elco's Skyline Jap beef overtaking: what a car!

Speaking of which: the supercharged Monaro in charge here.

Whoooosh!

Our exit lane. Pretty good excitement boys 'n girls: thumbs up and thanx.

Next: where have Ollie and Andy gone?

The Autobahn run in Brians Ultima was huge fun. Without no competition the most brutal thing I've been with.
A 20-something convoy thundering past a variety of Euroboxes must have been quite a sight. Sunday early morning remember!
We choose exit 35 - Reken - and had a brief rest to team up. We did see Andy and Ollie miss 35 and decided what to do. Does anyone have their phone-nrs?

The clonking main shaft made its frightening sound only at low speeds. How's it now Brian?

Still strapped I had this view of Alex ("Wow, some savage thing this.") and Joop! ("Of course I could not follow!") and the Skyline (wastegate: SHVV!)

Happy boys appeared to clocked the 2nd best time.

Avatar!
Happy with this shot.

The Cloggies had a great time: not bad for a 20 year old car!

Sums up our last hour.

Farah took my seat and left with the rest of the group.

Another thumbsup - or goodbye! -

Rude as I am I did not even ask Ben to stay. It must've be something like a command to wait for the others. Sorry!

Next: fueling up.

After 30-something minutes two familiar V8 soundbytes came our way: ta, where is the nearest fuelstation dudes!

TomTom was our friend and guided us to Reken:

Ollie filling up his thirsty 6 litre.

The absolute dogs.

When this is in your rearview: better move away!

Same with this one: even louder a thunder.

wavey Hi Anne.
Wind down windows no way: this is the way to let fresh air in.

Great shirt Andy.
Check the see-thru fuelcap.

The nose of a Vmax king: chin came down on the Autobahn so we had to scrape our way to Vorden!

You gotta love this Jap, as I do. On our way to lunch Ben learned me some convoy antics.
Very handy was the leading car - Supra - 'stay in passing lane' signing the last in convoy to safely pass slow traffic. No worries to frighten euroboxes.

Surely, that can't be the hose for diesel . . .

Next: Vorden lunchstop.

ETA: Reken!

Rain in the skies so no terrace for us: Vorden lunchspot arrival.

Our little convoy took the shortcut to make sure we'd team up with the group.

And we arrived in time to welcome them. Brian thundering in.

Erics smile says it all.

Klaas giving me the finger?!

Mega pop 'n bang Japrocket.

Next: quick blast to afternoon nip 'n diner spot.

Ouch Steve and I was thinking of getting up - 3ish - and drive to the Euro Chunnel and meet you guys at 8. But I choose to have 4 meetings with friends this weekend (drove 700 kms just the same, is Holland small?), do the garden, clean up and did the full Tesco's. It is amazing the things you can do when the family is out. It must be my ADHD . . .

You must've had a great time Steve, can you direct me - us, dear readers - to the topic packed with fine snaps?

Elco was allowed!

Thus parking in as the last one wink

A classic really. I saw Aram today . . .

. . . he has a 'white' Corolla TwinCam (mid 80s?) as a daily hack. These guys are getting the classic car fever.

Tasty Chim.

Tasty ST. Eric had me as his passenger for out last stretch - wasn't Jan in Ollies Monaro? - and that was a surprise. The car looks hardcore but is actually very comfy and enjoyeable to be in. Everything's there and the seats are great. I would've liked to know how it compares to Joop!s 325 Coupe . . . really!
Stamping hard when in a corner is an experience but for a FWD car I was amazed. Performance is a riot! I believe the RS can see 270 kmh on the tacho!

A hunderd horses down from the ST is Alex' fine 'white' Alfa vert.

We came in early!

Great memories coming back just looking at this.

Next: eat!

Time to get inside and share todays stories with a glass of Coke or wine:

Elco, Sophie, Ben, Ollie, Andy, Bryan and Alex freshing up here.

Arj, Ben Andy, Sophie, Alex and Bryan telling though stories.

Time to say goodbye and go catch the Chunneltrain or Hook ferry.

Let's see if we can get this one to work.

Ben leaving from the special parking space. Can hardly believe you guys have made your mark in my Leusden.

No tiremarks from Eric: he behaved nicely.

Brain left the Ultima for a few hours of Tapas enjoyment.

Next: diner!

Last bit, Benthe hops in the Ultima:

"600 brake no sweat!"

"The yellow ones are the fastest."

A restaurant girl asked me to ask Brian if she could have a seat:

"Does my bum fit in here?"

"Push that red button?"

"I don't even dare to touch that gearlever!"

"265 kms! You gotta be kidding me!"

Done!

Cheers!

I'm not going to hunt or pull this time: it's an open invitation max 30 cars and DSR-veterans get a mail first.

A few weeks after that the DSR 2010 topic will be opened somewhere in October / November.

Yay!
