May I suggest for you, Sir, a similarly delightful model from our range which comes in a slightly larger size,

Ahhhhhh, that's better.
IMO even better in the later Ford-engined version with lower rear buttresses,

I recognise that snap hehe

Check 'My Cars' > Lotus Europa . . .

I still like these cars, and they are a bargain second hand at the moment.
The cheapest one for sale is 19K, doesn't seem that great a deal to me.
Seconded. All Lotus keep thier money well, compared to nearly everything else out there. If I was in the market for a new car, I would choose a Lotus as a guard against seeing the massive depreciation of other marques.

I'm assuming they're still using the Renault 16 gearbox and engine...

Good box that. Smart construction with the Renault fourpot.

In the original Europas most are converted - strenghtend - by Banks and such.

snap never seen one on the road. I dont think it looks that ugly. But still, its no looker.
The comment about "Exhaust powered turbos tend to destroy the exhaust note" is an interesting one. The best road car exhuast note I have ever heard, came from a car with a turbo for each bank of 3 cylinders, a Weber 40 DCNF, and no cat. I dont think you will find its the turbos that kill the passion. More likely the cat, new noise regs, and EFI

Just like the original Europa it is a Marmite car. I have a black one and love it. I have done a lot of track days and driven across Europe and they are fast and relatively comfortable. I had mine parked in the paddock at a F1 event and it got more attention from the Ferrari mechanics than a Brazilian pit girl!
Definitely see one in the flesh before making your mind up.

This car is parked across the road from me right now!!! I take it that it's a test car or something? The same guy had a new Scirocco GT...very yummy!
Must be a journalist or something along those lines?

I drove one of these cars about a week ago and loved it. I'm actually going to buy the car I was that impressed and think its a bit more liveable than a 111R Elise that I drove not so long ago. I guess it all depends what you want from the car.

It does look far better in the flesh although I must agree that white does it no favours and the new alloys don't look too good at all. I quite like the standard wheels that they put on it.

There are a few of them around although I've only seen 3 in total (including the one I drove/about to buy) but thats the beauty of these cars, your more or less guaranteed to be the only one in your area driving one smile

Please pay attention. It was Christmas on Saturday - that's Day 1, yesterday was Sunday - Day 2, so today's Monday, Day 3 "and on the third day he rose again".

What's more, Lotus' new strategy will need a pretty impressive Miracle in any event! biggrin
