Agree completely. Wrong wheels on the Z3 too, the wheels are from an (E46) 3 series 4 cylinder.

I'm always suspicious of cars with the wrong wheels fitted. See post above...

By the way, V8mate, thanks for posting this again this week, much appreciated (forgot to say thanks previously).

Very interesting as always V8, thanks for the insight. Not just me that looked at the S2000 on an `08 plate with those wheels and thought "hang-on a minute?" then!

Buggar me that's an absolute steal yikes
Ok but why does an 08 plate car have MY2002-2003 wheels on it???

Maybe stolen/recovered?
That's why if I buy from an auction I'll be paying one of you experts to keep me company. I was just looking at the plate and the value in the price shown....perhaps the dealer has sold the 08 model year wheels independently to try to get some cash or the car is a stolen/recovered but surely they would have to declare that before the car is put up for sale ????

Thanks for your effort V8! I'm looking for a '55' or '06' 730d or CLS at the moment, and may come up to Colchester for the acution on next Thursday. Is there anywhere safe nearby, I could leave (a potentially untaxed) car for a while while I drive back home and pick the car up later that evening or the next day?

Cant you just leave it at the auction overnight and pick it up the next day for a small fee?

You can collect the car next day without fee.

There's a Mercedes Benz sale there on Thursday 27th Nov. MB clear there every other Thursday.

Not that many BMW's at Colchester. Mainly ex-fleet 3-Series entered by fleet/finance companies, but I think BCA have the BMW national account.

There has been an 07 630i Convertible in the last 3 or 4 sales. In the first sale, the highest bid was £23,600 but the vendor turned it down. Ever since, they can't even get someone to offer £20k for it.

yes

Just make sure you are taxed and insured when you leave. One of my trader friends who buys all of his cars from auction has been picked up twice in the last three months by number plate detectors, he obviously has trade plates and was fine but just get yourself a quick cover note and tax it to avoid deflating your experience!!

Echo all the above. Great posts.

Do SMART cars come up at the MB auctions? Fancy a £1k run about (or do I just wait for the estate agencies to blow up!)

£2K really is the starting point for a decent Smart............the early cars havnt shifted in price for a couple of years now (good mpg, cheap tax etc)

The WRX 2.5 looked really good value, shame the road tax next year will be so high. Still for that sort of money I am very tempted. Thanks for the time taken V8mate.
