Why does it seem to be BMWs that are the biggest offenders?
Nobody wants to have a small engine in a prestige brand. Some try and pretend for that reason.

Earlier today a blue Mk4 shape 1.8T Golf badged as a 1.8T Golf GTI R32 4Motion Bluemotion Turbo Sport laugh
There used to be a guy around here who had a white Toyota Corolla with "16v Turbo V6" written down the side of it in bright green letters, about 12 inches high. I actually saw it a few times before the complete absurdity of it dawned on me.

Not really a mis-badging, but every time I see one of these I'm tempted to remove the letter E

This could be described as a bit of kidology, on the part of those who put badges on cars to make it look like something it is`nt.
A mate once described the practice succinctly, describing it as being as much use, as putting gold leaf on a dog t*rd smile

Along with the standard M badges being added, the best misbadging I've seen was a Volvo V70 with a Honda Type-R badge on it.

Although, misbadged BMWs are common around where I am. In the last few days alone I've seen an 'MX650i' (black X6), an E46 320i touring with an M badge on the left-hand side of the boot, and an E46 M320d.

You sure it wasn't an X6 M50d?

Yeah, the M bit was at the start and the spacing wasn't right.

When one of the letters fell off the boot of my Laguna I rearranged them a little and was driving around in a Renault Anal for a while
