I once pulled up along side a 106 with V6 Kompressor badges off a Merc, huge wheels, crap paint and compulsory baseball cap for every occupant, strange thing is it had a tiny exhaust and no wheel arches. I was crying with laughter.
"Rude boy" and his misses didn't see the funny side of me pointing and laughing at him but I thought it was comedy gold.

I'm in favour of 'reverse badging', in fact my Golf is badged as an 8v when its actually a 20v turbo.
Mine is badged 'Aero' despite being neither bubbly or chocolate. wink

There is a Honda HRV near me with Type R badges plastered over it, including in vinyl all down the side.

I will get a picture one day.

Got mixed views on this.

I see a whole lot of terribly badged up chav' cars around including an E34 (IIRC) 518 with an OE fit M5 badge on one side of the boot lid and a Halfords 'M Power' badge on the other side, also a MK3 Golf 1.6 with a Halfords 'V6' badge on it. Thes I see as really fking sad, if you have a 518 just drive it around and no-one will notice, fit an M5 badge and people will laugh at your ttishness.

On the other hand I do quite often change the badges on my cars to what I consider nicer versions of the same car badge i.e on my B6 Audi S4 I thought the badge was abit big and chavvy' so I replaced it with the smaller old type S4 badge from the B5 S4, also on my old Jetta GTI 16v's I preffered the red lettering ond italic font of the pre-faclift Jetta GT badge so I swapped the badge.
Not major changes but little things that I like to detail my car.

On a stupid note at Uni' a mate had a crap 998cc Beige Metro as a runaround, as we were all studying motorsport and into cars we all had various badges around and started sticking them all over the back of it, in the end it was a:

Porsche //M GTi 16v Cosworth RS GT Carrera Coupe Boxter 1.8 ABS Turbo Synchro Supercharged Metro City.

Was funny until some chav' st nicked all the badges on night..... Probable ended up on an even worse car!

A guy at my gym was telling me about his M3 the other day, he didnt realise i know about cars so was a little taken back when I started asking him if it was an evo or not and how much horsepower it had.

A couple of days later I saw the car he was talking about in the car park so had a little nosey.
The first thing i noticed was that it had 328i sport BBS wheels on the front and E46 sport wheels on the back. Hmm.
I peered throught the (tinted) window to see sports leather seats and not the vadars i was expecting, i walked around to the drivers side to see what colour the needles were on the speedo (as M cars have red needles) but couldn't see due to the tinted windows and it was dark outise. I also noticed that 'M3' mirrors were once chrome and had been rattle can sprayed to match the bodywork.
Before i walked away i went around to the back of the car to see an 'M3' badge stuck to the boot in the wrong place, not miles off but you could see it was stuck too high.

Now i'm not sure what to do! Do I tell him I know his car isn't an M3 or do i go along with it?

Funny questions i can ask him are welcomed!

Any excuse to post my mis/re-badged car.

Personally I don't have an issue with down badging if it's either funny or believable.
That still makes me giggle hehe

Jesus, I hope Chris Bangle never sees what they've done to his creation... it might give him ideas.

Now that would be an interesting one. Especially if the badging was accurate!

Personally, I have 1 badge on my 200sx. And very few people know what it is/means. It was put on by the previous owner as the Nissan badge on the bonnet leaves 2 small holes. I would prefer no badge but am hopeless at filling holes and painting them so that it matches the rest of the bonnet. I'll stick to confounding people with my S15 Spec R lightening badge for the time being. Several past cars I've owned have had all badges removed completely though.

Seen so many 'Sorted' Escort RST's, RST badged XR3i's, XR3i badged base spec escorts. TBH though, I don't really pay much attention to the badge on the car unless its an interesting car and is one of the increasingly rare ones that I have to look to see what it is.

Wasn't really. That is a BEC screamer.

Badge provided endless amusement...

There are a few true diesel caterfields out now, but none back then...

V8 badge on a corsa.
There's a nice Corsa near me owned by a young lad, and he put an RS turbo badge on it. Every time I saw it I wanted to cry out with the pain. In the end I put a note on the window, explaining that the car was suffering because of the badge.

It must have done the trick because the badge is gone.
