What's wrong with using gravity to send the oil from the filler cap to where it's supposed to go? Although I did encounter someone who did something almost as silly, no perm damage though.
A late driver, passed test at twenty, first car. Came into work saying he had changed the oil but it would not start. It would turn over a little but very slowly.
A couple of guys went home with him after work.
I passed his house on the way home so I dropped by too.
As I approached I could hear laughter and see tears running down their faces.
He had overfilled it with oil, I mean really overfilled it, to the point he could almost get no more in.

A women came into the workshop next door to me with her corsa absolutely brimmed to the top with oil, apparently her old car used to use quite a bit so she just kept on adding oil to it, half a litre here, half a litre there.
