Great motor but bin the "ricer rims"
fyi - ricer = silly show, no go.

The word you were looking for is "japanese".

I actually rather like that some of that end of the japanese tuning influence has finally arrived on a well sorted european car.

If you read the review and understand the point of the conversion then you'll see that looks has nothing to do with it, albeit that you could find some simple Rays 5 spokes that would look ok. If you want looks (rolling on 20's bruv) again as the review says go to Germany for your bling bling.

I love the fact that Autofarm are leading the way with an out and out performance orientated Cayman. Great effort.

I'm not denying that it's effective but am still not a fan. Mechanically I'm sure it's great and some of Autofarm's other creations are very cool cars, but those wheels and the seats for instance just don't work on a Porsche - more so the Cayman. For the money you'd want the entire car to look and be spot on - I'd want it to look OEM+ and a bit more like the 911 RS models bodykit wise. Suppose what I am trying to say is it doesn't look worth £60k. Saying that you don't have to take the entire package...

Is it just me or does the lighting in that first picture make it look like its had a heavy front N/S impact?

Prefer a standard one myself.

As its my car (so to speak) i feel i should defend it slightly.

The concept of the project was to enhance the cars dynamic capabilities. This is a drivers and engineers car, not a stylistic one. The carbon fibre panels for example can be painted to match the car if necessary.

I chose the wheels based purely on thier strength and lightness. Inertia forces and un-sprung mass are some of the biggest areas to explore for improvement on a car. The colour was a personal thing and ever so slightly chosen to make the car stand out. But can be supplied in any colour at the point of ordering.

Volk TE37's 8.5 front = 8.1kg
BBS LM 8.5 front = 10.2kg
Standard wheel 8 = 9.9kg

Volk TE37 10 rear = 8.6kg
BBS LM 10 rear = 10.6kg
Standard wheel 9 = 10.7kg

Why not read through some of the other options available on our website.

Cayman Project

The car in its current form is purely a show car, demonstrator and test mule. The customer can specify exactly what they want, including the wheels.

Though i think it looks quite good in this shot biggrin

Fantastic work, the styling and performance upgrades really hit the mark in my opinion.

I guess something like this is always going to polarise the market, but Autofarm should be complimented on offering this to the UK . I know modified Caymans are big business in the US and there is some serious performance potential locked in the platform.

The question is, will the engine package fit my 986s smile

Robin - Keep up the good work!

The car looks great and offers something different to the market!

Like you have said, if people like the car and not the wheels, then they can specify what they want!

I am just waiting for an email back from Mikey and hopefully I will be visiting you guys soon!

does look lovely in that pic you posted...

..but why are the rear wheelarches SO big, especially compared to the fronts, which seem much more in proportion?? maybe it's just an optical illusion..
(obviously porsche's issue, not Autofarms)

Before I explain........Obviously you haven't driven this one, but how would you compare your driving experience of the standard Cayman S to the 911?

whats the point? If you want a light weight focused track day car that will run on the road get an Exige and save the rest of your cash for some 'other' fun activities.

36k for mods? You're having a fooking tin bath.

If I had that sort of money to mod a car with I'd be off to Manthey.

Own & love 'the parent' and saw it in the flesh last weekend. Long time admirer of Autofarm, yet another great idea, but at least 50% too expensive & that's rubbed in by a below par presentation; wheels a very bad choice ( a couple less kilos is not worth making it look Halfords Level 'Orrible), style and colour and even more inept with those superbike rim edge colours. Further work needed and deserved.

Its not 36k for mods though

thats justs adding up every single part they sell at full cost.

most people will pick what they want, but at least they have a car with every thing on you can see and try.

you will prob then go to them wanting 3 parts and come away with 6 lol
